We've looked into getting pans. group of 4 4" ones were $100. And we'd use them on any evaporator we'd make, so figured the investment should hopefully last awhile.

I remember when I worked on a farm one spring we did the same thing with direct-seeding tiny seeds using a seeder in the garden. It couldn't seed carrot seeds very well so we'd add a certain amount of soil and it really helped!

It's true @sumi, but if I'm planning to sell then planning is really important! You can make changes as necessary, and adapt to that years conditions, but market gardens need to be well organized. My other garden isn't nearly so well planned out as it's just for personal use.

For sure! There a lots of people doing that around here. But it's not a huge concern; I'd like to see if there's anything salvageable in there! Maybe I can add that to the ever-growing summer job list lol

Lol ya, we tried that January tap, it was too temping not to and was our first year so we wanted to see what we could do. It was fine, but had boiling issues which we will resolve this year.
