I think this is the calm before the storm hits - we've had stormy weather financially, but I think it is going to get a lot worse. For one, the state and local governments are really hitting rock bottom, and that means layoffs, cutting back of services, so fewer jobs, more unemployment, fewer...
hmmm. curiouser and curiouser. I have my own seed potatoes, so i don't think it was a problem with that. Had tons and tons of rain, so much that some of my fruit trees yellowed, and tomatoes split daily.
seemed as if the potatoes got planted a little earlier this year, and even so, were...
you don't know how happy I was to see that pic! I have a bad reputation at work - in the cities - because last year I planted 6 pumpkin plants that actually turned out to be zucchini!! so you know I was drowning.
one of my coworkers likes to get the big zukes to make bread with, etc - and she...
hah! I've never heard of too much rain being a problem once the plants start to grow. It sure is disapointing but I guess you get a bum crop every now and then.
this year, pototoes died back early. digging them up and nothing is there! maybe 2-3 marble sized potatoes but the plant is dead.
what happened? never seen this in more than a decade of potatoe growing. could it be tooo much water?
seems as if the potatoes in the lower garden, which are...
No sign of the skunk for 24 hours, it did't go out or in under the porch! guess that encounter with the cat was enough to send it packing.
So as soon as i finish :caf I'll go lay wire fence on top of the hepatica, bloodroot, etc, and use fencing staples to attach to the bottom porch...
thanks, Deb.
I did take the camera out to get a pic of the harvest that my sister hauled away, all sorts of tomatoes, green beans, zukes big and small, garlic, cabbage, basil, potatoes, flowers, peppers (green, banana, cayenee), tomatillas and eggplant. Now that I am single, well, a girl just...
funny how everything looks better in the morning!
cat seems to feel better, the steam moisture condensing on the floor is gone gone gone, I finished with the extra loads of laundry (rugs and towels) from the sick cat, and....I got to have coffee on the screened porch because the wind was...
congrats on finding the job! it is amazing how things work out.
It'll be hard to work those hours, but hey, the results are proably worth it. Keeping my fingres crossed that you love it.
got em here, plus wolves. I've learned to tell the difference between wolf howls and coyotes - coyotes yip. a couple of mornings ago, before dawn, I got to hear an incredible song of howls, in harmony! with choruses of something that wasn't yipping or growling, not barking, but - some kind...
I never made it to the brandy last night, on my way I passed my bed....soft bed.....pillows........snooze.........
I have a very disgruntled woodpecker who wants the suet.
kind of skunky around here this am. THink I'll haul over to OFG's and help with the chores. Can't harvest potatoes here...
still haven't made it to the brandy, maybe a ceremonial last of the summer G&T instead.
OFG, lemon grass! now that is something I haven't grown. was at the farmers market with some friends, and someone was selling lemon grass, saying you should "infuse" your chicken with it. we laughed...
