Power came on tonight at 7pm!....while we were making attempt #...uh 5 at gettting this pig up the ramp and into the truck. I would have tried the pig harness idea but it's so muddy and yucky in there! Needless to say pig is still not in the truck. :somad Anyhow, I am so happy to have...
Now I heard that you marry the person you want to be like. I think that's a more positive way to look at things. There were things that you loved so much about DH that you wanted to make those good qualities part of your life.
:hugs
I loved your pumpkin soap pics and hope that one day I will...
Love your soaps SD! Good job. I should be getting my stuff from BBerry any day now. I've been out scouting for soap molds but don't know how big they should be.
We got smacked hard! I was so scared listening to the rain and the wind howling. We didn't get the worst of it until after dark which made it worse that I couldn't see what was going on. However, we are ok! Lots of HUGE trees down and the chicken coop came down but the chickens are ok, so are...
It's starting to get windy outside. I'm surprised I have internet right now but I doubt I will for much longer. I've got to go out and get the bunnies and then just hope for the best at this point. I haven't turned on the weather channel this morning but the NY times (on-line) said it's now a...
Yup right in the path. I'm a little freaked out but mostly I'm not looking forward to the clean up. I know that some trees are going to come down and tons of branches def will! We've got a big pile of cans by the shed and some of the bags have busted open so there will probably be cans all over...
DH did call the Va Dept of Agriculture and they were very helpful. To be USDA approved you have to have a USDA inspector on-site whenever you slaughter and process. Apparently you ARE allowed to have a mobile processing truck without having the refrigeration and follow USDA standards but you...
He's going to start looking for a position as a butcher's helper or at a "meat Market" here locally. They don't do whole processing at the meat market but he will at least learn the cuts and how to season and make sausage, etc. But yes that is a good idea.
Hi there! Yeah wer're ready for this beast of a storm! We have the water tank filled, the pool filled, frozen water bottles, collecting ice in the freezer, extra charcoal, and plenty of beer :) We're as ready as we're gonna be. I will try to post our status as soon as we can. It's supposed to...
They will definitely evacuate the outer banks and probably the oceanfront Va Beach but we live inland too. We are about 1.5 hrs from the ocean so we won't be going anywhere.
I agree! A great skill to have. I'm looking at the Va Dept of Agriculture website right now. DH did a good job on his deer last year and we have some roosters he can practice on! :D Def seems like something to look into.
Since we have been trying to get this pig slaughtered we haven't found a mobile butcher. This has made DH think that there's a need for such a thing in this area (I couldn't agree more). Does anyone know what certifications we would need to start up such a business? Has anyone used a mobile...
I spent 6 months in San Diego and didn't feel any earthquakes and I didn't feel this one in VA. My dad was home and felt it. I think we were in the car. I'm feeling a little disappointed....but lucky. I'm glad you're ok Lori!
Yup same here. Lots of trees and chainsaw ready to go. After a storm is the best time to go out and look for free firewood :P We live on a dead end too and only have one way in and out. Usually the road get flooded and we get stuck for a couple days. Good luck to you!
