keljonma's Front Porch - Settling in and adjusting

You may be lucky as hard drives seldom get damage from a voltage spike as the sm power supply will usually take the brunt of the surge and never makes it beyond that. If you take the machine anywhere always tell them you want all the parts back (do it in writing if you have to). Not only is it...

I can't save sent PMs here

Look again there is a check mark for it. I seldom save unless I'm being exceptionally profound.

    Pressure cooker operation

Sorry forgot about my previous questions thought you were responding to the lid one. I simmer my lids for about 10 minutes or so, just hot enough to make sure my fingers weld to it. And by the way the only salt I use in fermenting is Epson's, magnesium good sodium bad.

    Pressure cooker operation

I find Walmart and Kroger's to be over priced on the exact items Save a Lot and Fred's has in jars and lids. CL has no can, jars, bottles or lids around these parts - 500,000 free cats though. Coming soon to an eBay store near you " Kanned Kitty Kuarts", order your KKK at Kat Knip Knummy today...

    Pressure cooker operation

I was told and read to never reuse the lids - but you do? any problems? I'm with SKR8PN and won't risk my life for 10 cents. Then again I'm new at this and am too scared to eat any of the canned meats and go to mcdonald's instead.

Food Storage on $5 a week

Perhaps you should define the zombie we speak of, something like: Any human who devolves because of a major crisis that they never prepared for and becomes deranged with cannibalistic chud like instincts just to feed its lowly self and offspring because they ate the 1 day food supply they had...

    Leaking window a/c

I asked about cleaning the coils in case you sprayed something into them, the filters should be blown out at least once a month of more depending on how dusty your house is - I have to do mine once a week, If the filters blind it will cost you twice the power for less cooling and also risk...

here's one for all you southerners (or those who want to be)

I moved to the mid-south almost 3 years ago and still don't know what grits taste like and refuse to let the waitress leave any kind of gravy on my table that isn't made from pure hog squealing fat especially that white stuff with the tiny maggoty eyes that is always looking back at you. I took...

    Your Baby Can Read

I'm pretty sure that all the great inventions and discoveries by scientists and justified winners of Nobel's laurel were all born before e-phonics ever hit the 2am infomercial scene just as the silly placards are superfluous now. It is true that a bit of coaching may help a child along but is...

Baking inside on my wood burning stove??

That stove top may not get hot enough, have you tried to boil water yet? A pure copper bottom pot will conduct the best for quick boiling and such but wont hold heat like a dutch oven which will also take a lot longer to heat. Most of these types of stoves are not designed to cook on or to burn...

    My energy efficient house modifications

I can't afford to give all my stuff away again as I won't live long enough to buy it all back for the third time. And besides the whole idea of having a self sufficient wife is for her to do all the work while I pursue the web for ideas.

    The Nerd Confession Thread

I remember seeing it and thought it was funny - looked it up and see it ran from 96' to 2001. One thing I thought strange was John Lithgow to me was always more of a dark actor rather then comedic. Not having a TV or access to cable or even over the air networks I just bought some more cheap...

    would you consider this

I concur about the money pit - it may have charm but along with charm comes a big repair bill. Years ago when I had cable I remember a bunch of these fix and flip shows that all seemed to start with $500,000 over priced houses that people would get interest only loans then sink $100,000+ into...

Teenagers who think famine=lack of snack foods
