I didn't read over the lists, yet, just copied them to read later - did they include a towel? You NEVER want to go anywhere without your trusty towel, don'tchaknow.
I can see how the lists would include a lot of stuff that is not necesary, but it will at least get folks thinking (like me) what...
Mark yer calendars ya scurvy dogs!! The day is almost upon us, and we must do everything we can ta spread the word - that word being ARRRGHHH!!!
Sept. 19th is National Talk Like a Pirate Day.
We used to mark this day at work (food service industry, LOL the customers thought we were insane) by...
Ya know, this is the first REALLY cool day we've had so far this fall, and I'm in that Fall Cooking Mood - and you guys are not only making me hungry, you're giving me ideas.
(fried apple pies.... mmmmmmm)
LOL I better drop over to BYC to check on chicken stuff and stop reading here for an...
VERY cool !!! I went and looked at this and it might be do-able, both cash-wise and engineering-wise.
I saved it to show hubby when he drags his butt out of bed - he was up late last night...
It would certainly be more adjustable than wood-fired heat, and I always have propane tanks around...
LOL My mom was a lousy cook (still isn't that great, although I've taught her a few tips, LOL) - she joined the army right out of high school, and never really had to learn much from Gran - or maybe she just didn't want to.
My Gran, however, and my Great Gran, woohoo!!! I remember a lot of...
My hubby and I are planning to make an outdoor kitchen for canning (mostly) and other stuff.
We've gone over a few different options - 1)woodburning cookstove (expensive, even used), 2)firepit - not enough control over the fire/wind/venting, etc... 3) building our own woodburning cookstove -...
Try volunteering at the school - it's what I did. It then turned into a part time job (they started paying me).
I tried homeschooling, and it worked in some ways and other ways it didn't work. I did the next best thing - I was at the school a lot of the time.

I have a pair of farm boots - but I also have fat calves, LOL. If you have fat calves, it will be harder to pull them on. I've been looking for a pair of either larger at the top, or lower at the top, to bypass my big @$$ legs, <g>.
I have a pair that I can get on, but they are tight at the...
I don't think any kit would be complete without Oreos <g>.
Other than that, bandaids/gauze. sewing needles and good thread for stitching, a sharp (SHARP!) knife, or even a scalpel if you can get one, peroxide, pain killers (aspirin, antibiotic cream with pain killer included, etc...) and then...
quote=Beekissed -- I'll tell you a real tastey treat you can cook up using just tin foil as a dish....on the grill, on the wood stove, in the firepit, etc.
We make those - haven't in a long time, we called them "hobo dinners". hmmm... now ya got me wanting to make some for dinner, LOL.
Peace...
I got my two burner woodstove at TSC for 250.00 - I will save more than that the first month in electric heating bills. The stove pipe is expensive - more so than the last time I had to buy it. It is about 10 bucks for a 2 foot section!! yikes! But we only needed 8 or 10 straight feet, and a...
We got a new woodstove this year. We had a little potbellied stove, but my new one (I had to have it!!) has two burners on it, so I can cook if need be. I also have a propane gas bbq, but if things went on for long, replacing the propane would be difficult at best. (you could take out the guts...
Our water tastes very icky right now. It isn't only us, it is everyone - the "lake turned over" whatever the heck THAT means. It is supposed to clear up soon, and it is safe to drink, but it tastes like mold.
So, with this going on, I was thinking last night of water supplies and how best to...
LOL I made two loaves yesterday - they were both gone shortly after dinner.
I would love to make bread every day, too, but am in the same boat - no time for all of that EVERY day.
edited because there really are two L's in All.

I don't think I've been anywhere that hasn't had friendly people down here. Jobs are scarce here, not as bad as in Michigan, but bad enough. Amazon.com just hired a bunch of folks this week, though, full time, 10.50 - 12.00 an hour. Great wages for down here.
Over by us, no one would ask ya...
We looked on the eastern side of the state before looking in Central kentucky.
I loved the mountains, but didn't want to deal with icy mountain roads (and two teens who want to drive, LOL).
Plus, the economy is much worse over there.
One big reason, also, was we wanted land that we could...
A friend of mine just called and asked if I had a full tank of gas, because it just went up to 3.99 a gallon town, and in the next town over (where his wife works) it was up over 4.60 a gallon!!
I'm sure it is because of the hurricanes, but sheesh, that seems extreme to jump so fast and so...
Heya all, Living in Kentucky, now, moved here from Grand Rapids last year.
I wouldn't move back, either - the economy is going bad, no jobs, schools are failing,etc... I heard that people are leaving Michigan by the thousands every month. Most of my family still lives up there, my oldest son...
