Calendula - Son may have Tourette's

Sorry to hear you have hit a rough patch.. I was wondering how you were doing. Sounds like the garden is doing really well! Don't forget you can pick all those green tomatoes, put them on newspaper and cover with a layer of newspaper and they will ripen right up. I used to do it in the...

Now you are talking!! I really want to try making mead. We have plenty of delicious honey from our bees. Have you made it before? How long before you drank it? I am reading anywhere between 6 months and 2 years...Dh says we need a hydrometer??

    Potato Starter and Potato Bread

Calendula, someone asked that question in the comment section after the recipe. The author kind of answered it- maybe you will understand what she means... I couldn't quite tell if she added more yeast or not!! Let us know what you figure out....

That is a great set up for drying that grass! Good planning... We have an old 1960's Ford tractor. I really don't know how we ever lived without one! Love reading about your productive, farming days!

It happens to me and I have always assumed it was a reaction to the soap, that doesn't get rinsed off-under the rings...

Wildcraft ? Wild Raspberry leaf tea

It seems to me, that I have read (somewhere) that the leaves of raspberry plants are toxic... and that you should only use them fresh. I really wanted to try raspberry leaf tea- but I made myself nervous!

WAY COOL! Simple solar "plastic water bottle" lightbulb.

I am not sure why it needs the liquid?? Isn't kind of a skylight, made from a bottle?

Do you remember the Aladdin dolls- they had really big cartoon eyes. Imagine picking up poop- and seeing that eye looking up at you!! My DD just couldn't remember to pick up her toys!

How will you store/use the rutabaga? I have quite a lot of it, and am not sure how to keep it... We have already enjoyed some mashed and also in the slow cooker with chuck roast.

Calendula - Son may have Tourette's

You will love that gadget, Calendula. We used a Champion juicer for tomatoes this year- what a joy! Very little waste and a real time saver. I ran the seeds and skins through the hand held food mill and got even more out of it. Lucky you for having made enough sauce to get you from one...

    Ouch! Hot Pepper fingers!

I would treat it as a burn- try aloe. Don't touch your eyes, nose (or any other delicate areas!!)

    Anxiety?

It was mentioned in an earlier post- but I swear by Valerian Root. It is not an expensive supplement (6.00 a bottle). I would not dream of facing a day without it. It has made a huge difference in my life. Winter really brings me down - vitamin D and Valerian have changed my world! I highly...

    Kitty Litter Containers

When I clean off the poop boards in the coop, I put it in a cat litter container. When it is almost full, I take it to the garden or the compost pile.

    Looking for a new farm.

I looked at a place with 17 acres. Sounds like a lot...When I looked at it- I realized, really not enough. I don't want to be able to see from one end to the other of my property. When it comes to land- IMHO more is better! Good luck with your search!

What can I feed the chicks AND how do you kill a chicken?

If you have never killed a chicken before- I highly recommend a kill cone. You can make one, or buy one. I would really hate to do the deed without one. JMO

    What are you DEHYDRATING today?

Icu- are you going to use the dehydrated borage for animal feed?? It is a real favorite of our bees, too. The honey is absolutely delicious- I attribute the flavor to the tropical taste of the borage...

    Leg cramps

I think hydration really is the key. When Dh doesn't stop for enough water breaks- he really suffers. I would recommend trying a magnesium supplement. Don't overdo it-since it acts as a laxative....
