    Is my nitrogen fixed?

    The problem with the torch idea, is that it does kill the micro-organisms in the soil... I would pull them and add them to the compost pile, or feed them to the chickens. I think the nitrogen issue is resolved, once you have mature plants. Happy Gardening!

    I had some customers pick the only 3 apples on a little apple tree. I knew it was humans, since only a bite or two were taken- and then the remaining part was tossed on the ground! Ugh!

    Dh converted a leaf blower for this purpose. Gas powered, so no cords. Oh yes, it surely does work on the Japanese Beetles!!

    Ground Hog. Got one!

    I had them digging under my fence around the pumpkin patch. I took human hair (swept up from a barber shop) and lined the perimeter of the fence with it. It has worked, for a month, so far... It is not the most attractive thing- but if your gardens aren't right out front- it works! Congrats...

    Since making my big mistake- too much fruit, I have learned a lot! On the paperwork in the sure-jel, it says you can just mix grape juice into your too firm jam- and it will thin out...Good luck! At least you didn't do it with 22 quarts of strawberries!

    A friend brought me a giant bag of human hair, from the barbershop. I am sure it wouldn't keep big predators out- but it has kept the woodchuck from digging under the fence in my pumpkin garden...Can't get Dh to do the pee thing!!
