Can you call them and ask them? Maybe if they did do it and are called about it, they'll feel guilty and give them back if they know they're caught. If it was them, they better give them back or they'd be out of a job if it was my peaches. Why would anyone do that???

Yes, I will call them. The lead gardener is a great guy who has been working for us for fourteen years. And thanks to recommendations from us, he does most of the houses on this block. I'm guessing one of his helpers did it without him knowing. But I'm perfectly comfortable telling him that if this ever happens again he will be out of a job, no questions asked.

Dang -- that tree was the only one that produced anything decent this year. Now I have a single peach, a single avocado, and a single apple.

I bet he will be just as mad about it as you are if he didn't know about it. If his employees are stealing on the job, it reflects on him and could cost him quite a bit of business. Keep us posted...

Careful. I cleaned houses while going to school and received two such calls. One diamond earring was missing (not two, one....no other jewelry) and in the other house, one pearl necklace....nothing else from the jewelry box or any other valuables from this wealthy family, just one necklace. I'd cleaned for a couple of years.

They both swore no one else came into the house.

The diamond earring was found (she'd dropped it behind something, can't remember) and the pearl necklace....oh, yeah, we had the carpets cleaned, forgot about that.

Just sayin'....be careful how you word this if you like this gardener.

It is quite possible it was not a human thief though. I have a freind who has a huge pear tree. One day loaded with pears just ipe for the picking. The next day all--even at the top of the tree were gone. could be birds or something.

I just went out to water the garden and discovered that all the peaches on my little tree are gone but one. Just as they were getting ripe! I think the gardeners must have taken them (the guys who come and mow the lawn), since they are the only ones outside our family who are ever in my backyard. I am so mad!!!!

That was rather cheeky! We had a similar problem a few years back, but it wasn't a gardener, it was a groundhog. We had two old peach trees, with the branches low enough that you had to duck when mowing on the rider. One day we noticed that our just ripening peaches were disappearing. Then early one morning, we discovered a big groundhog actually lounging in the tree, eating peaches. Corn fed deer is great, but peach fed groundhog isn't bad either.

Last year our best apples were raided by squirrels. Yeesh! If The stuff ever does hit the fan, I may starve, but the wildlife will be well fed.

I had some customers pick the only 3 apples on a little apple tree. I knew it was humans, since only a bite or two were taken- and then the remaining part was tossed on the ground! Ugh!

I'm sorry about your peaches.

Last summer I had family visiting. I had about 8 plums on my tree. I had been waiting patiently for them to ripen. My brother and his wife and kids each picked one, then my kids followed suit.

that was last years plums!!

Some dogs like peaches too. Do you have a dog? Although ours only ate one at a time.
I am with you and suspect one of the gardeners :/

I also have a problem with squirrels that chew a few bites from each apple or peach and then throw them on the ground. I would be willing to share some if they would just eat the whole thing.
