    Stock up alert!

I've been picking up rice too, but it seems the larger quantity I pick up the more uses we find for it. I'd like to have a decent stock pile of rice in the pantry so I've been watching the prices.

    What are you DEHYDRATING today?

Mushrooms, turnips & zucchini are out, thinking of drying/adding some bell peppers, onions & herbs and using as veggie soup mix. I put in some blueberries and green grapes in the empty trays, the bananas should be done soon, then I'll start peach fruit leathers in those trays :) this is fun. I...

    Old house issues

Just look at their resumes, my former boss, a retired structural engineer, is a certified home inspector, he definitely knows what he is doing. Certification is easy to acquire so find someone with a background in construction or engineering, someone who did more than take a 6 week course and...

    Leg cramps

I've found that when I do have leg cramps at night if I put my toes on the foot board and press down into my heal it does help relax the leg so i can get back to sleep. I have found that days I forget to take my multivitamin I am more likely to have the cramps.

    Old house issues

All the floors in my house slope in different directions, the dining room goes uphill from the kitchen and back downhill toward the front of the house, because there is a ridge in the dining room we had to get rid of our pedestal table we moved in with because it wobbled. Almost all our...

I cut DH & the boys hair and trim my own bangs, but for the rest I just go to the cheap walk in place. I keep my hair short and off my neck in the summer but let it grow from fall to spring and then maintain it short again all summer until it's not hot anymore. Probably ends up being 4 cuts a...

    Vinyl--peel and stick

I used the peel & stick vinyl to cover a plywood counter top for almost 2 years, it was easy to clean and wore well, it got plenty of spills and it just wiped clean. The application you plan on using for would get even less wear and spills so it should be fine. If the drywall is painted it...

17 month old... diet, interaction, ect...

I went to 3 stores yesterday and none of them had yogurt that wasn't Non-fat or low-fat. I picked up the same one I usually do, it is plain and doesn't have any mystery ingredients, but this is getting added to the "Hubby, this is one of the many reasons we should have goats..." list.

What did you do to save $ today?

I started to do this myself too, both of my dogs were nervous at first so we would just do one nail at a time, lots of praise and let them go relax. We are up to a paw per sitting now. I was getting tired of paying $12 per dog.

DH helped stock the pantry, lol.

So my hubby and I were talking about rising food costs, property tax increases, gas price increases and the fact that neither of us have gotten any sort of raise over the last few years. So I mentioned that I would like to continue canning but also pick up essentials for the pantry when they...
