What is going on in Europe?

Economic adviser Peter Shiff predicted this whole economic downturn years ago. He was yelling, "Get out of the stock market now!" "Housing bubble is about to burst!" He was the adviser to Ron Paul and both were labeled lunatics by the mainstream press and laughed at. After everything started...

    Bee~ Journal of then...

I love that area. It looks just like the area I used to live for a few years called "Elkin NC". Not much there but, I loved it. The long commutes I did not. I missed my family as well.

    Green Burial

Where did you get this information? The only information I can find on the middle ages was Christians killing pagans and gnostics during the Crusades where they burned them to death by the thousands and gouged their eyes out if they would not convert. Many of the modern pagans still refer to...

Any recommendations for a secular based homeschooling program that I could recommend to my brother and his ex for my niece?

When can I bring duckings & chicks outside to play?

Everybody has different methods. I took mine out for short exposure to outdoors at one week. By the middle of the third week while having warm weather I just left them outside. They did well health wise.

    Coroplast (plastic cardboard signs)

Yeah they look like corrugated cardboard. There are a few large campaign signs still around. I'm going to ask the owners if I can have them. I like it because it is waterproof and I only have to pull out a razor and a yardstick to trim to the size I need as I do so hate pulling out a tablesaw...

    Gardening a little cheaper....

10 gal aquariums with cheap incandescent socket plastic hood. Use two CFL sun bulbs. Mini greenhouse. If used in aquariums for fish it looks better than official aquarium lights too.

    Green Burial

Good idea with the Green Burial. I sure won't mind either. Haha your name is freaky..Tallman was the evil villain from the B horror movie series Phantasm. He took bodies from cemeteries and reanimated them. :ep

    Coroplast (plastic cardboard signs)

It has been colder than usual in SC. I'm starting to pack insulation for my bantam chicken coop. For interior walls I'm using Coroplast signs. Many of the local convenience stores (campaign signs too) throw them away. I rub a bead of silicone caulking around the pieces and paint. Works very well...

    Turning old into new

I'm going to pick up a large aluminum/tin frame that was a 2 yr old greenhouse at our feedstore. The wind tore it down and twisted a few parts. Should make good roofing and frame for my chicken coops/runs. Might get some meat birds to keep in this. What is leftover will be sold for scrap...

    WHO has converted to CFLs??

I'm guessing so maybe they just say CFL. They are in outside lamposts protected. The lamposts are nearly brand new and have glass coverings. The ones in my basement just burned out. 35-50 a month in bulbs is killing their savings potential. My parents have the same problems and switched back to...

    WHO has converted to CFLs??

They are not saving me anything. They are burning out faster than incandescents. The lights on the walkway I replace once a month. Some of the yellowish glow GE type do give me migraines. No recycling system here. They just crush them and throw into the landfill.

Do your SS plans include secret rooms?

I live in a very old house. The whole upstairs has walls and rooms behind the walls like the movies. Two rooms are as large as my bedroom. Why they built it like this and didn't utilize that space is beyond me.

    Paddling....

Just me but, I wouldn't want teachers paddling my children. Growing up I found too many teachers that loved paddling and scaring children. For instance I had a Physical Education teacher. It seemed I got sick every day during PE class. He thought I was just making stuff up and trying to be...

    Turning old into new

When I wore out my old floormats for the car I cut the good parts up and use them as nestbox liners for my hens. My big Jersey Giants always dig a hole in the middle of the box and drop their eggs on the wood and break them. This stops that and I can hose them off if they get dirty and hang on...

    Ringworm

My grandma taught me this one. Use the white sap from an edible fig leaf on it. It will cure up in a few days.

    Make your own plant fertilizer-Literally!

Correct this is for number one. I live too close to neighbors and don't have the facility to handle #2 nor do I want to as it stinks already. It is high in nitrogen so water down well. My chickens handle #2 for me in the garden during the winter. I should put down another use for the 2 liter...

    Make your own plant fertilizer-Literally!

I don't use it that often maybe one every week, or two depending on the plants. You can get a fertilizer and ph monitor for about 19.95 at Lowes. I mix mine 6 or 7 to one because my fertilizer be strong. :gig If you use too often you will be over fertilizing. We live near a greenhouse and...
