Do a google search for 72 hour emergency kits. You can come up with some really good checklists and ideas as to what you would or could need. We have been accumulating frame packs for backpacking over the last few years and the ones we done use regularily for backpacking or camping we have...

    Drop Spindles anyone?

Here are the pics. I finally remembered how to get them on here. The one on the far left is spoken for. The black on the second one from the left is a rust mark from a bolt but it is not grooved like the three to the right. The black groove on them is from a bolt hole that was cut through. I...

I just finished making a batch of drop spindles for a friend that is teaching a spinning class and I have 5 extra. SHTF Hygiene

My parents own 20 acres of wooded property that is often used as a family gathering place. Because of township regulations my dad thought it best to build a movable outhouse rather than buy a porta potty or build a permanent outhouse. Anyway, we decided to build a two holer for nastalgic...

    Wild DOGS hmmmmm

I was told once to set out a nice big bowl of good old toxic anti-freeze. I guess dogs like the supposed sweet taste and will lap it up and wander off and die in due time.

    SHTF - Information?

Another publication that I came across a couple of years ago was Countryside magazine. It kind of reminds me of the older MEN magazines. It has alot of back to basics articles in it. I like the idea of clipping out the usefull articles and putting them in a binder. The only problem is there is...

Vinegar Mother - RECEIVED. Thank you!

what to do with surplus potatoes

Ok so I am trying to plan ahead this year. There is a farmer near me that grows a lot of potatoes and after he harvests them the fields are open for gleaning. Last year I gathered two large totes full of spuds but before we could use them up they froze and went bad. My problem is I do not have a...

Lucky, I am 150 miles southeast of you and I can't find enough blackberries to make a single batch of jam. I have scoured this area for 3 years and just can't find a descent pocket of berries. I will have to settle for elderberries and grapes again instead.

OLIVE OIL. My wife and I use theraputic grade essential oils and some of them can be very strong. If they get to strong you can dilute or neutralize them with olive oil. just dip your fingers in a bowl of olive oil and rub them together to neutralize the oils from the peppers.
