We are required by law to have our septic tank inspected every 2 years, with paperwork being filed at the court house. Of course we have not found an inspector who will do it withhout pumping first. That being said, ours needs it every 2 years. We've had back up issues if we don't. We have 2...
I'm so sorry to hear about your son. I went through alot of behavioral, not sitting still kind of stuff with my youngest. (She didn't have touretts). But it broke my heart to when I would see her in school just not being able to sit. They too thought she was ADD and she ended up on medication...
I agree Leta, UP is a whole different world. Kinda like a breath of fresh air. Love it, love it up there. We live near Fond du Lac, and I don't ever want to move any farther south, going north to be with the normal folks!
9 4oz sugar free raspberry jam, 7 4oz sugar free blue berry jam, 10 quarts apples & juice for baking, 8 pints apple in hot cinnamon sauce, 14 jelly jars of applesauce, 9 jelly jars of triple berry jam and 21 jelly jars of raspberry jam. My feet hurt, waht a long day.
2 stores in my area (WI) have bacon on "special", one is $4/lb & the other is $3/lb.
I did get a few 12oz pkgs for $1.99 each. smaller pkg, but better per oz price.
That would be me. The second batch had a few leakers even though I increased the headspace. The last batch I increased the headspace to about 1 inch and those did not over flow.
I did applesauce with no problems. I was going to do some in syrup too. I'll have to watch the headspace in those as...
Headspace - I'll have to watch that. They have pinged - so even if there is syrup between the lid & the jar they should still be ok?
I had a mix of old jars/new jars, so I'll rule out the jars.
Just don't want to get anyone sick nor toss out these jars of apple pie filling.
Next batch I'll...
My first time canning apple pie filing. I'm concerned that when I pulled the jars out of the canner, the syrup came bubbling out of all but 2 jars from under the screw band. I wiped the rims 1st & checked for chips/cracks,so I don't think its that. All of them seem to have pinged and the dimple...
I thought I was the only one who re-hung undies after the hubby was so kind to hang them up all bunchy. I should really get over that, because they are really just undies. :D
Wow, we are soooo lucky with the apples. There is someone not far from our house that sells 20lb bags for $5. I got 3 bags of cortlands and 2 bags of macintosh. I'll have to get after those apples later in the week. Now, I'd just like to find a deal on the onions!
Does anyone have a recipe for Apple Cranberry Orange jam? I came across one once and thought that would be something I'd like to try. I got my apples last night 100lbs and thought now would be a good time to try it!
Found 2 jars at the thrift store. Bought 2 big bags of tomatoes at the farmers market for $15 and got them canned. And I made 2 banana breads with some bananas that were ready for baking.
Scored a bunch of windows today. Hubby came home from work and asked me to come with him as just down the road someone had a bunch of free windows out and he needed me to pick the right ones. I figured they were nice windows we could start replacing some in the house. Turns out they were just...
I just want to say that canning in an RV sounds like an adventure in itself. I never seem to have enough room in the kitchen, but I cringe at the thought of trying to do it in the RV.
