I have used potatoes from the store as opposed to seed potatoes before. the thing to remember (especially if it's a really large potato) is to cut each chunk of tater with an 'eye' in it. give it enough of the mother tater to grow, and you should have plenty of baby tater plants!
baby soakers are the little pants type things that go over top of the baby's cloth diaper. They help wick the moisture away from baby's tender skin and at the same time help keep everything else from getting wet.;)
Once when DH and I were at a July 4 celebration, He looked up from our blanket and shreiked 'I'm blind!' there were two VERY hefty young females wearing string bikinis! At least I think they were. :/ Couldn't see the bottoms at all. Come to think of it, that was the last july 4 celebration we...
well, worms are in. I havendt put a cover over them since the tub is only half-full, reckon they could climb out? :/ Maybe I should make some kind of cover for them. :/ :fl
I prolly wouldn't mind so much. I like the longer skirts and it looks comfortable, but somethings just cry out for jeans, mucking out the sty,Cleaning the chicken coop, climbing ladders, etc. But I always wear dresses to church!
DH got me a small bathtub to use for the worm bed. It was made to go into a camper or something. anyway it's about half full of the worm bedding stuff, and I moistened it till it looks like mud. He's sposed to be getting my worms even as I write this. hope it works!:fl
OK. DH brought home some asparagus crowns for me to plant. problem is I have never planted it! also if and when it comes up how do you cook the stuff? I've only cooked frozen or canned, never fresh. Sometimes I think he may have a little too much confidenece in my abilities!:barnie
Truth be told, I didn't actually buy them to be layers. I got them because I felt sorry for them. They were the last two and when I got to the store there were a couple of kids tormenting them, with their mother watching. Even if I have to prcess them, at least I know I can give them a better...
You mean I have to keep control of their feed even after they are grown? I was planning on letting them free range once they got out of their 'chickhood'.
thanx! I don't want them to have any troubles! If they are pullets, I'll keep them for eggs, but if they turn out to be roos...... I really like chicken for dinner!
Just got two new chicks from TSC today. they are cornish rocks. My question is Do I need to limit thier feed? Right now they are in with some older chicks (about 2 weeks old). everything seems to be ok, but then again, I've never raised cornish rocks. my others are aruacuna mix, and dominique.
An ex-friend of DH is one of those 'BEWARE OF THE CHRISTAIN' types. He will lie, cheat, and steal to make a buck, but he always keeps a big Bible on the dashboard and on the front table so everyone can see it. He's such a PHONY!! And he is also real bad to come on to women over the 'net. He says...
I don't know about the hay bales, but I have planted mine in old tires. when the plant is about 6 inches above the rim of the tire pile on another, and fill it with dirt/compost/sawdust. do this until you have four tires stacked up. My taters are always good sized and very tasty!
Learned this from others, not personal experience... NEVER EVER borrow money against the house you are living in for something that you don't need/can't afford! i.e. bass boat, vacation, motorcycle, newer car, truck, etc. Many folks around here are now 'homeless' as in have to move back with Mom...
Ah-ha! I have a freebee styrofoam cooler that I got form work! I'm going to get my worms today!:celebrate I'm so excited! Will keep you all posted as to my progress! :whee
One day at home my phone rang. It was some guy I didn't know telling me I had 'won' a free trip to Gatlinberg. Only I knew I had never signed up for a free trip. I told him I wasn't interested and he got really mad! Needless to say, I didn't go to Gatlinberg!
Also I have learned that the...
I think I'll order a kit and see how they do. I know morals are self-seeding(?) anyway, they always came back in Michigan, so maybe $35.00 isn't THAT much.:fl
When I was a little girl I remember picking Moral mushroom every fall with my family. That was in Michigan. Now I live in Alabama. I saw an advert for moral mushroom kits. Only $35.00! I just wondered if they would grow here? I'd like to try, but money is hard to come by for something that's a...
