We have now been overrun with mosquitoes and DD is getting a lot of mosquito bites. We have been using witch hazel to treat her, but it doesn't seem to be working. Does anybody else have any ideas? My dad swears by garlic keeping them at bay, but DD refuses to eat garlic.
What a great time at Wooster. Saw some friends and met lots of new people. Got us in the mood to try and do more shows. We did a lot better than I had even imagined. I've put some pictures below.
This is of a sign that a friend made for us. She did such and awesome job.
This is the yarn...
Had a great time out at Wooster! We sold quite a bit and got to meet a lot of new people. The weekend was well worth it, but now I'm exhausted. I'll post pics of the sign the lady made for us tomorrow. It looks really awesome. We're talking about doing more shows now what great fun. I really...
At 4 I would not worry. Like everyone else has said you know your daughter better than anyone else so use your judgement, but don't compare her to other children. She will learn in her own time. My daughter is 5 and just learned how to count to 20, but has been able to read simple sight words...
Got enough milk that I'm going to be making cheese tomorrow. (cross your fingers). I have to run tonight to a drs appt. and then to go get some fleeces ready for Great Lakes Fiber Festival this weekend. I have a lady that wanted some raw jacob fleeces and we just got them off so now I gotta go...
I'm up for a SS cookout. It was really nice meeting you guys as well. The Orloff really was only to cross over the ameracaunas, but DH says there's not many around and if I bred good ones it would be worth it. I told him to stick to the Reds LOL! and I wanted my Salmons. I just love the look of...
we keep a plug kit around and DH has gotten really good at using it and slime to repair tires. I'm constantly picking stuff up over and K's house and down at Rogers.
I have a friend who has been driving Amish too and she says like you it can get a little tedious at time. For her it may be a...
Yep that's the buck kid I had down at Rogers. He has really grown he's about the same size as the doe in the picture below him and she's about a month older than he is. I'm so happy to have him. I have 2 other does from the same herd and just love her animals.
I like the look of the Russian...
a pic of my new breeding buck's head. He is a PB Nubian and I can't wait to use him this fall.
and this is Sarah the first doe kid I've kept in a loooong time.
He started with my Russian Orloff rooster which I told him was only to cross over my easter egger/americauna hens. Once he did that I figured he wanted pretty much everything. I had told him when I called him that we mainly wanted it because DH has some people that wanted the RCRIR eggs and I...
I love the coloring the the BLRW. There's just something about them. I've never kept them around to actually breed, but just as a different color around the yard. :) Lael looks so happy. It looks like she has grown already.
The testing went really well and was quick. He was here for about 2hrs...
Yay! on your bees. I think I would've been with the men behind a tree though. LOL. Not a fan of bees but very happy for the vineyard next door that has them.
Had a good time at Spinning Guild on Saturday. I got to watch a lady navajo plying and am going to be trying it sometime in the near future. She offered to let me try on her wheel, but I declined. Now I'm thinking I should've taken her up on it. I thought at the time I would need the privacy of...
So glad you did well on Saturday. You did awesome finding more matches for you salmons.
I didn't know you raised BLR wyandottes!! We have to talk about that later.
We take our equipment to them. We use a motor and hand piece, because we are doing smaller batches of less than 20 head. Apprenticing for me has been about 10yrs. I am probably good enough by now to shear by myself, but prefer to simply help. It's nice having someone I have worked with that long...
