I'll have to remember the flipping the chick over trick...
I don't regret giving away the pullets to the neighbors. The chicks were for the kids and they picked the ones they wanted. But - the next time I want to buy some chicks - I'm taking my neighbor kids and they can pick out the chicks...
Well, I just did a thing. Hopefully it'll stop me from giving away pullets, lol. I've got RIR and Barred Rock eggs on the way. Crossing a red roo over barred hens is supposed to give you chicks that can be feather sexed
at hatching.
Is that pullet on the bottom left an honest to goodness pullet? Looks bigger than the others with a more developed comb. Of course, I'm usually wrong, lol!
Decided to relax this morning and not run outside first thing. I've had my second cup of coffee so I'm good. Did dishwasher duty while coffee was working. Then decided to boil a bunch of quail eggs and will peel and pickle them after feeding. Found a spicy recipe that I'm sure DH will love...
I hatched 20 mixed chicks a few months back. I gave 10 to the neighbors, sold 5 and kept 5. Don't know the sex breakdown on the 5 I sold but the 10 I gave to the neighbors turned out to be 9 pullets and 1 roo. The 5 I kept for myself - 4 roos and 1 pullet. Sigh.... never fails, lol!
Quiz didn't work for me... I had multiple answers to all of the questions, lol. Does that make me an over-achiever or totally unfocused? (you don't have to answer that, lol)
Oh well, time to go check the garden, feed the critters then come back in and continue to re-organize the kitchen with...
I do! I only hope I can relax and enjoy it. I've already started a list for Sis-in-law. Not necessarily a "to do" list, but more of a "what-to-do in case" list. How to deal with Low blood sugar, how to deal with high blood sugar...that sort of thing. She needs to remind him to use his cane...
Boo! We had rain in the forecast most of the week. Thankfully, most of it stayed north of us. We did end up with another inch but that's better than what we could have gotten.
