As everyone else said, welcome! There is definitely tons of useful ideas here. Be warned though, when the baby pics (animals) are posting you will definitely feel the tug to get more. LOL
Tornados are definitely scary. We get quite a few warnings and watches every year here even. The closest one happened last year and was, thankfully, several miles away. Close enough to scare the boogers out of me. What scares me the most is that we don't have anywhere I'd feel truly safe...
The first picture reminded me of growing up in England. Near a town called Lavenham, there are fields and fields of lavender. It was used back in the middle ages to create purple dyes which were profoundly expensive during that time. It's so beautiful.
Have you thought about doing meat rabbits? They'd chow that grass right down for you.
Welcome to the boards. Don't worry about this being a daily journal as some of us post weekly, others daily and still others whenever. I personally fall into the last category.
Pansy's are often used on top of salads.
This is one of the links I found when I googled it. http://homecooking.about.com/library/weekly/blflowers.htm
It does have some herb flowers too but I liked that it had a bit of description of flavor.
I'm taking it that she refused to nurse again. I'd be all over a free goat except 1. we're in Colorado and 2. divorce papers would probably be handed to me the minute I walked through the door with another critter.
You may be on to something there. When we put the roll on the holder it is over. Normally, though, we just set it on the counter next to the toilet. Our holders were not set up very well and fall off easy. Our paper towel holder is vertical.
I wanted to chime in with Tank. I would still enjoy looking at any pictures you post. I think it's important to remember the earth on more than just one day.
Wow. I guess my adding my banana peels to the rabbit and also the compost pile is a good thing. I better start cracking down on hubby and the kids to ensure that all peels are handled "in-house" rather than being trashed. We go through 2-3 bunches a week.
That is one thing I LOVE about having Annabelle. She has chewed her way through almost all the weed shrub sticks that I've put in her cage. These were things I was going to put in the trash because they were taking too long to compost. She's also gnawed a bit on a sunflower stalk leftover...
I'm not sure what to tell you. I'm extremely new to rabbit keeping. We've been giving her more and more hay and scraps and less pellets. She chose not to eat the pellets on her own as they are alway offered along with all the other goodies.
I've seen mixed reviews on weeds like bindweed...
I'm impressed. I've got 3 mousers (cats) and I've never seen that amny bodies in that short a time. My "mousers" are also adept in getting prairie dogs.
Scooby has been rewarding himself from what you've written. LOL :D
With the water wars the way they are in Colorado, many have no choice but to dry farm. I just can't imagine how many acres of corn will die of thirst when that aquifer runs dry. And how is this impacting the ecology of the region? Don't aquifers help supply springs?
We get our pellets at our local American Pride Co-op. It's the same place I get the chickens their food from.
Annabelle is currently enjoying life as the family fertilizer maker.
