Actually, I feel great right now. The first week or so after the treatment was a little rough, but now I honestly don't even feel like I've had chemo. I don't know if the next 5 treatments will go as well, but I'm just taking it one day at a time and thanking God for each and every good one.
Yeah, I'd say that's about right. :) One of the first things I had to do to build the run was dig out a whole bunch of plants. The space where the run is now used to be a flower bed!
Happy Chickens = Happy Chicken Mom
At long last, my outdoor chicken run is finished! Well, enough to be habitable anyway. I still have to put the slider on the pop door and install the ramp, but it's usable!
I've been feeling so guilty about the laying hens being literally cooped up indoors...
They gave me a mesh type sleeve for my line, but I found it cut into the skin and the cotton sleeve they tried next was so loose it slipped down so I cut the top off one of DH's old sports socks and slipped that on. It works perfectly. It holds the lines up out of the way and, being cotton, it...
Wow, Ann, I'm so sorry you're going through this! My PICC line doesn't bother me a bit and I hope it's the same for you. They really are a wonderful invention for long term IV administration. I know how hard it is to rest when there are so many things that need to be done, but trust me, you...
When I went to bed last night, I was contemplating how on earth I was going to get anything accomplished today. No sooner did we get the baler fixed when the tractor broke down, so with that and the dratted rain that won't let up, there would be no baling. I was expecting more rain, so there...
Thanks Quail and Tankshill. I'm glad they're home too and maybe they do know they did something wrong or upsetting to me. This evening, I ran out to the garden to grab some lettuce for supper just as a thunderstorm was brewing. When Smiley saw me, he came all the way across the yard from his...
I had a very scary, worry filled morning, but thankfully everything turned out okay. When I went to do the morning chores, Smiley, my big male LGD and his 5 month old son, Harry, were nowhere to be found. Now, it's not unheard of for Smiley to be off on patrol in the morning, but he's never...
I've been riding a roller coaster the past few days, but I expected that. I knew the first treatment would be something of an experiment, to see what side effects I would have and how severe they would be. For each cancer drug, the literature lists the side effects as "common", "less common,"...
Oh, my goodness, what a day!!! I just barely had my clothes on (I'm not quite as quick off the mark these days and didn't get dressed till almost 8 a.m.) when my neighbors showed up to take a look at the baler for me. Turns out there was nothing wrong with the tail gate mechanism. I just...
Thanks, FF. So, is it only the Ameraucana that has that muff? Does that mean this little one of mine is at least part Ameraucana? That would be cool!
p.s. Sorry to hyjack your journal, Quail.
I'm about to demonstrate what a total newbie I am to chickens, but Quail, I have a question about the picture of your two beautiful little bantams. That "puff" of feathers under the chin...is that something specific to certain breeds? I just noticed the other day that one of those young birds...
If I sent the rain your way, the farmers around here would skin me alive. It may be inconvenient to have rain now for us hay people, but the grain farmers are desperate for more moisture. I've driven past more than one field where they are plowing their canola under because there just wasn't...
Thanks for the encouragement. As expected, I'm starting to feel a little rougher. At least I'm beginning to get an idea of what side effects I'll be facing. Mouth pain was listed as one of the less common side effects, but I've never been a particularly common person. :) My tongue is swollen...
Well, yesterday's treatment went quite well, all things considered. The PICC line was a true blessing...no pain, no poking and prodding, just sit down, plug in and relax. Because it was the first treatment, it took a lot longer than it otherwise would, but susequent treatments should go...
Thanks, everybody. I admit, that woman really did get under my skin, but in the grand scheme of things, it's not worth stressing over. Tomorrow is D Day, or should I say C Day...my first Chemo treatment is at 1:00 pm. Frankly, I just want to get the darned thing over with so I can focus on...
Letting Go, Part Deux
After the PICC line experience, I wanted nothing more than to make a bee line for home, but since I dont get to the city very often, there were several things we needed from one of those big box membership stores so I almost reluctantly swung the van off the highway. The...
