A Control Freak's Worst Nightmare
I am a self-confessed control freak. I have to be to have any hope of managing this chaotic circus I call my life. In fact, I'm actually a wee bit proud of it. Being a total control freak is one of my best coping strategies, if I do say so myself.
However...
Wait a minute, stop the presses and back up a page. Aly, did you say this outing counts as a homeschool field trip for the kids? You mean, on top of everything else, you HOMESCHOOL your kids??
:ep
Good grief, woman!! I thought they banned human cloning but you must have gotten some kind of...
The hayrick sounds like a neat idea, but I'm not sure how I'd feed 40 some odd goats at 40 below and with 3 feet of snow. I go through about 60 1000 lb bales in a year, so that would make for a pretty big hayrick.
It's a cinch I won't get the hay baled till after I've started chemo but I'm...
I admit it, I'm a techno junkie. If there was ever any doubt about that, this past two weeks proves it. A week ago Tuesday, I turned on my computer as usual first thing in the morning and my mouse and keyboard wouldn't work. I tried everything, but to no avail. Little did I know I'd end up...
For the moment, at least, I feel great. We had to postpone the start of chemo for a couple of weeks due to an infection in the mastectomy site. That's cleared up fine, but we have to be certain it's completely gone because the chemo does such a number on the immune system. I'm now scheduled...
Despite temps of 30 degrees C (high 80's F) we've been working on the outdoor chicken run. Ran out of wire, though, so it'll have to wait now till I go to town to get some more. Since this picture was taken, we've covered the top with bird netting. It's pretty flimsy stuff, but we'll see how...
I was cutting the grass yesterday and got off the mower to move a fence post that was lying in the grass. When I lifted it up, a small dark shape darted out. I only caught it out of the corner of my eye but managed to track it till it stopped several feet away. I went over, somehow thinking...
Thanks to having that blasted drain in for almost a month, the stupid thing got infected so now we have to postpone the start of chemo by 3 weeks. That does have it`s good points, since it gives me more time to get things done around here, but at the same time it means finishing the treatments...
Because of my DH's dementia, he has trouble following a sequence of steps so chores can be really tough for him. We created a chore chart, listing each thing that has to be done and a column for the dates. Each day, he checks off what he has done and that helps him ensure it all gets done. A...
Thanks everybody. She really is wonderful addition to our herd...oh, and yes, she WILL be staying! :)
The new chicks are doing well and growing like weeds. So far, they're all getting along but there's such a difference in size, I may have to separate them as they get older so the little ones...
Guess what I found yesterday....
Kidding had basically come to a halt around here. My first timer, Sapphire, was the only one showing any signs of an udder. I knew she was close but we'd been playing the waiting game for so long, I was quite surprised to find this little gift in the...
Hi, Quail. About the business cards, I'd be happy to work up something for you that you could print on your own computer. I print mine on perforated ready made business card paper. You can buy this at any office supply store and these days, the papers are great. You can hardly tell them from...
Darn, I forgot brahma are feather footed. I'm pretty sure all of these chicks are clean legged. I didn't actually check, but I think I would have noticed. I will check for certain when I feed this morning.
Tankshill, I decided to get a couple of the runs but, wouldn't you know it, they were sold out. I got rainchecks, but who knows when they may get more in. In the meantime, I found a used one and set it up for the dogs. They're big girls but they'll just have to share the space for now.
Oh...
But boy, am I happy!
Went to a small "Odd & Unusual" sale yesterday and came home with...
There were 10 chicks in all. I haven't a clue what any of them are, but they are all really beautiful. The little brown one is absolutely tiny compared to the others. I'm thinking s/he must be a...
Yes, they caught the boys, but not before it was too late. I am SO angry about this. I rarely ask God why He has allowed something to happen, but I can`t help myself in this case. I know that, somehow, some way, this is all a part of His plan and I do trust in His wisdom, but it all seems so...
I am in complete shock and totally devastated. I just found out that a lady I know from a Canadian chicken forum was found murdered in her home earlier this week. The "alleged perpertrators" are two 14 year old boys who escaped from a youth correction facility and went on a random killing...
I don't know about where you are, but in a lot of places, you could sell a bred miniature horse, even one with her problems, for well over $200 so even if you don't decide to keep her, you've made one heck of a good deal. All that other stuff could end up being free!
Decisions, decisions. A local store has those "portable" dog runs on sale. They're 13ft long, 7 ft. wide and 6 ft. high...perfect for my LGD girls when they're in heat. It's a really good deal, $80 off. I've been stressing over getting a kennel built before the girls go into heat again and...
