Agree about comparison -- HOWEVER
Costco (Kirkland) & Dole still offer peaches in jars roughly $8 & $4.50....most are cans, run In $2.50-$5. range, dependant on the store, size, syrup. Etc.
Those at Rural King are pricey! 👍☺️ Sure pretty tho.
Seed has been getting very pricey for past couple yrs. So much so that the catalogs say "10 seeds". I have always tried to use heirloom & save seed. Now I appreciate the cost of production is high, with all factors involved, yet I'm annoyed to have to pay the much higher price and only 10-12...
I'm not an egg eater. Not my favorite taste but, I do eat some scrambled, well done, with peppers, onion & butter. I make/can a tomato combo that's like Rotel. Now that's good on a buttery scrambled egg. Light hot from jalapeno but not burn you.
Should eat more because they're here & good...
We have farmers markets like you. This is geared toward bulk sales. Bushel, half bushels, etc. some locals with big gardens bring smaller amounts. Anyone can sell/buy. Many buyers here are supplying their own market stalls in surrounding housing communities, say 50 miles out. The melons...
Went to a weekly produce auction tonight. Still early in season but ok selection. I wanted a bushel or so of tomatoes to can BUT not at $50-60. Plus there were some that were commercial type, picked under ripe, refrig stored, etc. Nope. No flavor there. I'll wait. Ahhh, decided nothing...
Too hot to cook. But I'm I have hard boiled 2 dz eggs, so looks like sandwiches may be it.🤣. I'll give half the eggs to DS & he can make his own egg salad. More sandwiches.
I've considered raised bed, even planter tubs. Don't really "need" a big garden anymore -- beyond bragging rights 😁. Just me to feed. But, I do grow extras for sharing & tossing to animals. Weather & work sched has kept it from happening this yr.
Slept late -- yeah, 7 when I finally got up...
Another week has gone by & made cheese plus cajeta, still this for today's work to make room & another 2 gal in frig 😳 this is from one goat. A gallon a day adds up fast!! I love it, don't get me wrong, but she rivals zucchini with output. Imagine this, she will give 2 gal a day if I pull...
Reminds me of old days at grandmas BUT no indoor plumbing -- just big metal tubs outside for ALL laundry🤣 There would be a fire with hot water brewing to add as needed. Whites first, then colors👍
Guess that's memories with my morning cuppa.
Much cooler today, thankfully! Rains coming, half...
You know, the most crippling thing a foreign enemy can do for immediate panic is hack into our electric & water grids....all computerized.🤐 Give that some thought. 😖🤬
I've decided -- 5 pullets, 3 roo -- from incubator hatch. 3 pullets, 1 roo (?) from hen hatched. Then 4 pullets I bought 6 wk ago.....so, a dz new layers for winter!! 😁👏. Perfect.
MY thought on this was the price!! Dang, those large washers used to be about $6-8. Haven't been in a while but, best way for the large items. Nothing is like it used to be! 🥴
Those of us at retirement age notice it way more. These young things never knew it was less costly.
Losing it...
Chicks!! 😁 They are fun at first, then work, then more work if freezer fill. 🙄. I just incubated some that hatched 3 wks ago. For layer pullets & freezer roo. But only a few since a hen had hatched a few, plus I'd bought a few. It'll all work out.
Are your a combo hatch or just freezer fill...
