What's your oldest working appliance, not including spouse?

It's so neat to be part of a group (forum) that thinks it's satisfying to own and use older things! :clap

These are great! I'd think the main idea is to make the most of what each of us has. A "rating system" method of member titles makes me a bit uneasy...I'd guess most of us can do some things better yet need some help in other areas. Well, that describes me, anyway.

    Redneck Security System

:lau That's just great! I'll bet it would cut down on all types of solicitors too, as a bonus! :P

What's your oldest working appliance, not including spouse?

It's fun to hear what you're using that's been around a while (this is such a comfy forum, it doesn't really matter if it's an appliance or not, IMHO)...and in some cases, is nicer to work with than newer things...advertisers will never agree with that concept, will they?! I was just...

What's your oldest working appliance, not including spouse?

Fun to see this thread revived! :D A week ago when visiting my MIL, I had to use her iron, which is an OLD G.E. non-steam flat iron, complete with the cloth-covered cord! (I didn't think it'd be a great idea to point out that it's an antique!)

What I did right today........... or enough doom and gloom

I did more outside painting today...it's embarrassing to figure out the last time it'd been done! Boy, doing the lattice really is "paintstaking"! (sorry...full moon...strong coffee...)

    Recycling toilet paper tubes

This reminds me of our first Christmas together when I made our Christmas tree angel from a toilet paper tube, a styrofoam ball covered with a piece of nylon stocking & scrap felt features, and the ruffled body, full sleeves and wings were all made of coffee filters; long cotton from pill...

What's your oldest working appliance, not including spouse?

Here are some other gems: a Lady Schick razor my mom gave to me at least 40 yrs ago, and she'd already used it for ages...so it's probably around 50 yrs old and can still "cut it"! We have an old upright GE freezer we bought used 15 years ago, so there's no telling how old it is, other than by...

What I did right today........... or enough doom and gloom

What I did right today........... or enough doom and gloom

That's an interesting suggestion, Beekissed. How do you suspend or hang them? Is there some DIY method?

What I did right today........... or enough doom and gloom

I finally got a good coat of paint on our old barn, I mean garage...as well as scraping and priming our outdoor windowsills. How do you high-five yourself?

In addition to Amazon's used books, another good source of used books (to buy or sell) is half.com

Do you have SS friends? Or do your friends think you are weird?

I also think it's highly likely there will come a time when we'll be very happy to be prepared and know how to do things simply.

How to get away from Ziplock baggies?

I don't know if this will be any help, but we only use the cheapie non-zip plastic baggies for lunches, as well as those cheapie plastic boxes...the "precious" zip-lock baggies are for special at-home storage uses only...usually we don't even splurge on them.

What's your oldest working appliance, not including spouse?

The rules: it has to be something you use regularly, not just a cute antique! Let's see, our frig and drier (both Kelvinator) and stove (Magic Chef) are each 20 years old.

Do you have SS friends? Or do your friends think you are weird?

All of this is so incredibly true for me too, I wonder "Did I just write this while I wasn't looking?" (don't mind me...it's heading toward full moon...:D) I can't tell you how wonderful and even relieving it is to find like-minded folks who have their values in good, solid things...aren't...
