Boys will be boys   They jump so easily, so high, without a running start .... It's amazing! Love calls. Mine will come right to me as soon as I call him -- walks back thru the gate and looks at me, as he heads to another jump. 🥴 The one I sold never jumped out.
Good morning everyone! It's August already 😳 summer winding down time, consider winter isn't far away time -- the year has gone fast, it seems. Prob because I had no garden this year. Weather in spring just ruined my long anticipated planting. It's sad in a way but didn't miss the work...
Always a spare room!! 3 rooms & bath upstairs I don't even use....just dust & vac.
Oh, I do run the dehydrators on a table up there. No heating up downstairs with AC going on. 😄
Salad looks really 👍 Even some goat cheese?
I had some Ritz topped with goat cheese & home made red pepper jelly last night. Oh, a chicken salad sandwich, too. Cool, filling & tasty.
When you actually pick them you'll find the figs may have tiny white spots on them...part of the sap but can be offsetting to see 😳 Also, your hands get sticky, both sugar and sap, which is like latex - same properties. They sun dry but I cut each stem off. I cut them in half, also, before the...
Went to check figs on "my tree" living in my neighbors yard 😁 picked enough for two big trays packed full -- now in dehydrator. I'll need to pick Fri morn. And I need to drive to friends in town tomorrow, she has another big batch picked for me. I won't let her pick more for me, I have this...
I'm the one doing it! 🥰🤣 Figs are a real powerhouse. If you read up on them, a tremendous super food. I honestly will eat them everyday and can't say that about a daily vitamin -- don't even have "daily vitamins" in the house.
Consume milk everyday, too. Need to say that about eggs but...
Another day on the job....then 4 days of processing more figs and canning some tomatoes, make cheese. Need to inventory that big freezer. That's a rearrange, couple hr job 🙄...needs to happen. It's full and a chest type.😐
Next 2 wks are full work weeks. Guess the weather will be gorgeous...
Those leaves, put in jars of pickles when canning keep them crisp. The tannins.
Your old tree will probably rejuvenate to some degree. 3 yrs ago my friends suffered badly from a freeze. But, 2 yrs later it was young again. Gotta be close to 30 y/o. Was grown when they bought the house over...
Chores done. Milking done. Put a qt out to clabber from this morning milk. Cheese needs to happen. It's so wet out ... Raging storm unit slid thru about 7PM and dropped about 2.75". 😖 Inside for most of day now, gonna be hot and muggy. Removed filter & front covers on AC unit -- cleaned all...
Oh, wish you were close!! Huge tree will be ripening in a week...we're talking an easy 150#. I'm thinking I'll pick & take some to the weekly produce auction.
Dehydrators empty😄 3 half gal jars worth. There's more to come. Ya never buy prunes with dried figs around
I've dried onions & celery this year, too. Looking for more apples, once prices drop in next month or so.
Need to can some tomatoes, they're low in pantry. 🤔
