got a few hours of gardening before the too hot came along - not much of a breeze. since i've picked most of the beans in some gardens i can get them put up for winter.
one of the larger gardens is being invaded by a quick growing grass that drops seeds fast, sometimes i can find it in the...
we're hot for the next three day from 88F today to 84F Monday, but then dropping down to the low 60sF when a cold front and rains go through for a few days.
carrot cake last night, the frosting was cream cheese and not very sweet at all. it might not even have had any powdered sugar in it at all. Mom said that she couldn't taste the cream cheese in the last ones she made (i thought they were perfect as they were). the carrot cake yesterday was...
picked some dry beans (and some not so dry but they got picked anyways) yesterday and am sorely tempted to shell them because of hints of what i'm seeing and also because i need to get some flats combined to give me more room for more flats.
it was warm enough to chase me inside after a few...
mowed today, got it done. Mom picked what was left of the tomatoes to give to to someone else who's been enjoying them.
tomorrow i will be picking some beans and if i'm lucky i can get some shelled out.
the weather forecast remains hot for tomorrow and the next day with chances of rain...
a squirt gun on a stand that shoots water at the chickens if they come on the porch might work ok, but then again then you'd have water on the porch and furniture... oh, but you have dogs! can't the dogs guard the porch for you? :)
as for sleep, i think last night was the first night in...
yes, and i should have called him back in August when the hot water heater blew out and the whole system seemed out of whack. so we did spend more $ on electricity than we really needed... my fault.
true, i'm pretty sure he gave us a break because i did refer some friends to his business...
well is fixed, we have cold water again, $150. which is much much less than a new well pump. :) it was a rubber seal that had broken and was leaking, he had a replacement with him. hopefully this is it for a while...
when i talked to him a few minutes ago he seemed fine with it when i described what was going on (the warm water after the hot water heater went out). he said it was likely just a hole in the drop line or something like that and that he'd figure something out for working around the propane...
it is towards the end of the growing season here so i'm mostly picking dry beans and the peppers are still out there producing some from time to time. in the next month i'll hope to get the garlic planted.
otherwise it is get the gardens weeded and put up for winter time.
going to be calling the well guy today.
when the hot water heater blew out the beginning of August it may have been the last straw for the well pump. there has been an issue for years of some water flowing back down into the well (some valve leaking) and now perhaps in combination it finally...
well it was cheaper than swiss or parmesan or the block cheddars around here, but that was a long time ago. i don't really know what the cheese prices have been like recently here because i've been lucky enough to not do too much shopping. we've not been eating many singles this past year...
