I applaud your knowledge and persistence. I would never have the patience or the organizational skills to pull that off!

you do it with your goats just with a lot fewer numbers and more control over the daddies. :) with beans in some cases i can only guess at who the daddies might be (from among all the beans i grow that season).

for me the biggest constraint is how much my body can do in a given day and everything else that needs attention.

given enough space and minions this sort of thing is not too hard to do. of course finding minions who can follow directions is a whole different issue...

sure beats tv...

going to be calling the well guy today.

when the hot water heater blew out the beginning of August it may have been the last straw for the well pump. there has been an issue for years of some water flowing back down into the well (some valve leaking) and now perhaps in combination it finally is just not working all that well any more period. at least we do have some water pressure now so it's not fried completely but if we need it to be replaced now is a good time to do it before the winter gets here...

our electricity bill has been running higher than normal and even with baking and canning taken into consideration it is still too much.

the other day i turned off the hot water heater for enough time to see if that made any difference in the amount of power being drawn and it didn't really make any difference and the only other things running are the refridgerator, a small fan, the well pump and my computer and all of those aside from the well pump and the hot water heater don't draw that much juice.

when i checked things under the house the other day it seemed like the well pump was running a lot more and not getting the water pressure high enough to turn off at the pressure switch which means it runs a lot and that is likely also related to the other problem we have with the cold water being warm...

we'll see what this is going to cost but there might be complications (of course) with the propane tank being where it is or ... the weather is warm enough that we don't need the heat but i don't know that we can run a truck back there with that propane line being buried anyways.

when i talked to him a few minutes ago he seemed fine with it when i described what was going on (the warm water after the hot water heater went out). he said it was likely just a hole in the drop line or something like that and that he'd figure something out for working around the propane tank. he wasn't sure how deep the well pump is down but said it is likely not too far down and if so he can get it pulled by hand. he might be able to get out here by this afternoon so the answers hopefully will be done before dark. or tomorrow if he can't make it today. weather is perfect. :)

well guy is on his way.
