More pork and cabbage soup.

Turnips are poking through the ground! YaY! Not sure yet if I'll have any empty spaces to fill. I'll need to give it a couple more days before I know. Carrots are still covered and being kept moist. That's going to go on for some time. I neeeeed carrots! Going to try to get collards...

YIKES!! I'm sure it'll get here long before I'm ready...

We'll have planovers tonight. I'll turn the pork chops and cabbage into a stoup of sorts.

Forgot I had a head of cabbage in the fridge - so the side will be baked cabbage "steaks." They will be topped with baked potato toppings - cheese, chopped bacon, chives and sour cream. Oh man - who needs pork chops!

Pork chops. Don't ask me what sides we're having - who knows? Whatever is the easiest thing to grab most likely. ;)

Finally got carrots planted today. Soaked the bed really well, put seeds in dirt, soaked it again and covered it all with cardboard then soaked the cardboard, lol. Dark and moist seems to be the trick. Hope so! I worked up another bed with my new digging fork. I'll put collards there. Hope...

It definitely IS a lot of work. Loppers are definitely your friend! We've used them while dismantling pigs too.

Got a 4 x10ft bed planted with 3 rows of turnips. Tried to finish cleaning out a 4 x 8ft bed that the pigs started but didn't finish. Want to put carrots there. Problem -my trusty OLD pitchfork that I was using to loosen the soil gave up. Wooden handle broke right off - ugh. Could probably...
