    Old-time Holiday Traditions

My grandmother always made fruitcake cookies.... that's enough about that, lol. Mom and I made homemade chocolate covered mints. The mints had to be rolled into little balls then dipped into melted chocolate. If we were really ambitious we'd roll 'em in crushed peppermint sticks. They were...

Woo Hoo - grands got here yesterday evening. DS and DIL came to welcome them. We had fresh, hot chicken and dumplings waiting. Good food, good company and lots of stories told around the dining room table. I never feel happier than when the kids are here! :love

Coffee's Ready, Come and Sit on the Porch

We've survived our cold snap and our first little freeze a few days ago. We're in for a 10-day stretch of warmth. It was 63 degrees at wake up! Forecast is for 80 on Christmas day. I'm not gonna complain a bit!

Very likely! They're pretty good about looking around to see what needs done and just jumping in. DGS likes to keep busy outside and DGD loves to cook. We will make things happen!

    Frustratedearthmother's Journaling Journey

Thanks! I was glad too - until she started barking and agitating the other dogs, lol. But, that's who she is, and I love her in spite of her big mouth! I was tired last night and went to bed at 8pm. Couldn't fall asleep though until close to 10. DH had a low blood sugar episode at 2 and I...

Coffee's Ready, Come and Sit on the Porch

Went to bad way too early last night and as a result - got up waay too early this morning. Is 2am really morning? Feels more like the middle of the night if you ask me. So, I got up in the middle of the night and fully expect a nap or two to happen today! More coffee is in order...

    Frustratedearthmother's Journaling Journey

Whew - yesterday was a day! The good part was that the Texans won AGAIN! That's 6 games in a row and a total of 9 wins for the season - so far. They are kicking butt and taking names! The bad part was that I lost one of my dogs. Lost as in lost - not dead! She was missing for about 10...

    Frustratedearthmother's Journaling Journey

Yay! I found the gift that I thought I'd lost. Embarrassed to say it was on the dining room table the whole time. Might've helped that I cleaned a bunch of other gifts off of the table and voila! Rain in the forecast for the next couple of days. Following that we could have the first...

    Frustratedearthmother's Journaling Journey

Failed again...dogs win and I give up. Been dealing with Christmas gifts. Got most of 'em wrapped and labeled. I needed to remember everything I had and who it went to, lol. Unfortunately, I seem to have lost, misplaced or thrown away a gift for GS's girlfriend. ARGH - money down the...

    What's for dinner?

If I were next door I'd love it! Not terribly hungry - could use sleep more than food right now. Decided that if I do eat anything later it will likely be a sweet potato. DH is fixing himself a snack plate - likely kippers or smoked oysters with some crackers, cheese, olives and pickled...
