for fresh mushrooms we're usually paying about 0.16/ounce at the big box store. for canned ones at the stupormarket i think it runs about $1.50 per 15ounce can, but by the time you drain them you're probably actually getting half that.

what type of salt are you using? 3 T might be too much, but how big is the bottle? the amount of salt used seems to be about 1 and 1/4 teaspoons per cup of water.
