the quality of Pink Lady is so variable when purchased from the stores that we don't buy them any longer. when they are good they are great, when they aren't good they're blah. i don't like spending money on blah. i hope Crisp Pink turns out well for you. :)

a friend passed away Saturday. it is very strange because this was expected eventually as she had ALS, but she wasn't doing that badly a few weeks ago, but that is all i can really say here. RIP Nancy. she was an unexpected friend and will be missed.

frost last night, but we may be done with that for at least the next week or so as the forecast gets us down for rain almost every night and day except for today. the good news is that it will be warmer but now instead of moderate we're going right into the 70sF.

rains this morning, but i hope they won't last all day. it looked like it was going to be a break there for a bit but now back again. ah, we're on the edge of it for now. don't need any more rain thanks. in the forecast mostly for the next week.

my sister sent us some fabric towels that we can use as napkins because we've had these other cloth napkins but nobody wants to use them because they look so nice. the fabric towels can be washed just like any other piece of fabric. we've never bought a roll of paper towels... if i want some...

they think they've at least partially figured out why so many bees are having a tough time. they're starving... :( lacking in basic bee food, pollen and nectar, diversity and availability of flowering plants.

we had temperatures down to the low 20sF last night and i think we still have some more in the forecast. we're not done yet with cold weather and won't be for a while.

i'm not sure if "shot hole" is a technical term or can it apply to any of insect, fungal or hail damage? :)

it's been a bit of a mess here with the flooding and roads that are closed. i still don't know how the road through our local small town is doing until i pull up the map and see if it is reopened again. hmm, looks open. Mom decided to call our friend who does a lot of delivery driving to see...

same here after having to move four rocks to get at each of many thousands of seedling that popped up in all the various rock piles and decorated areas we have. i'm hoping i won't have as many growing in south field to go after but i have a weed whacker now instead of having to do the weeding...

i was aiming for making about 3 gallons of beans to use for baked beans and also to put some plain ones in the freezer to be used for burritoes but i ended up with about 4 & 1/2 gallons instead. that is ok as we'll have some extra in the freezer and also to give away. this morning Mom has...
