Some medicated powder from the pharmacy dusted on his wound may help as well. I think it used to be called BFI powder, ask at the pharmacy. It is easier to puff it on the site and shouldn't hurt him with his licking. Also, some plain Neosporin ointment could be used.
There's a good book called "Honey, Mud and Maggots". It explains the benefits of these and other remedies. I've used honey on my dogs' scrapes and other injuries with good results. Haven't been brave enough to try the maggots though

Ohhhh, I miss FanTan gum. It had an unusual taste, kinda like the way a dentist's office used to smell. Weird, I know. It was a teeny bit minty but mostly a real clean taste. Very hard to explain.
Anyway I really really miss it, I used to buy a pack when I walked home from school and that...
After she is a rich and famous author, just think--we can all say we "knew" Bee back when  I think there are more and more people who are trying to get back to basics because of all the turmoil in the world today.

Heat up a can of cream of mushroom soup with just 1/3 of the added water or milk and pour it over some cooked egg noodles. You can add some leftover vegetables if you have some. Yum. Easy peasy especially for the kiddos.

I'll tell you my problem. We have 85 acres in the Black Forest of Colorado (by Colorado Springs). In return for FREE use of a 1300 sq. ft. 1/2 house with woodburning fireplace, 2 HUGE bedrooms, dining room, kitchen with all appliances including dishwasher, 7 big closets and yard (garden if...
Perhaps just buy it at the tax sale? We bought 45 acres with modular and barn (fully fenced and cross fenced at foreclosure. It had been for sale at 1.3 million. We picked it up for $335,000. Had to pay cash, but it was well worth it. You could have a pre-approved bank note to buy it at...
I'd sit down with the kids' mom and have a heart-to-heart talk. She needs to get some counseling for them (and herself). Your mom is an enabler. She may be nice, but so what? :( Nice is a 4 letter word too. She knows what he is doing to his kids and doesn't stop it----ergo she is...
The only thing that managed to get the Mafia out of Las Vegas was Corporations. How sad is that?? Only thing worse than crime is Big Business/legality. Sigh......

I've raised the Slow Grow Cornish X from McMurray for a couple of years. Since I live at 7300 ft altitude, a regular Cornish X doesn't do so well. My Slo-gro birds have done very very well, only lost one to Flip (out of three batches). They've dressed out anywhere from 5 to 8 lbs. at 11 wks...
Are you planning on raising chickens? If not, why so many roos? If all you want is eggs, roos are not necessary. I love the Cochins, but they do go broody===no eggs. Now if you are planning on breeding, then they are worth it. I usually have a couple in my flock, they will keep the eggs...
Slinkytoys is the name of my cattery. I used to raise Cornish Rex cats (with the marcel wave hair). My first Rex was named Slinky, since he looked like one. I had him for almost 15 years. When it came time to name my kittens with a cattery name, I chose Slinkytoys in his honor. He was a...
I have placed several of my dogs with familes who have autistic children. Often they will relate to animals easier than people. One of the autistic adults I worked with was fabulous at working in the barn. Had the cleanest stalls, took forever but hey, it worked LOL.
Depends on the symptoms...
