    Self Sufficient potting soil?

    Thanks for the tips, currently I have cedar shavings and chicken poop, but a neighbor is giving away horse poop, so I'm going to get a truckload of that at the end of the season and let it sit over winter. I'll be looking for sand now!

    Does anyone hear start seedlings early without the use of grow lights or heat mats? I want to start some seeds next month but our current house is small and we can afford extra use of electricity. We have a south facing glassed in porch, but its really cold during the night. Any suggestions?

    Eliot Coleman has designed some really great tools. I would research them and see if there's anything you like. I have the small narrow hoe for weeding and LOVE it. I know Johnny Select Seeds carries his tools, but not sure who else does.
