    If you are concerned about the presence of that yucky naphthalene in the fels naptha, good news! Fels Naptha does not contain naphthalene any longer. If I'm not mistaken, I think it even says so on the package.

    The homemade laundry detergents I've made have very little, if any sudsing, even with the Dawn in it. My clothing comes as clean as with commercial detergents, and MUCH softer.

    I read about using Dawn in homemade detergent elsewhere online. If it is safe enough to use to clean up animals from oil slicks, surely it has some grease fighting abilities. It doesn't make my detergent suds up either. I've been using the paste/gel since early April, and so far, so good.

    I think that is the same thing as Color Safe Bleach, which comes in liquid or dry form. Clorox2 is a name brand. Dollar stores sell generic versions for around $1 for 26 ounces here, like Family Dollar.

    I LOVE the liquid but dont like storing 5 gallon recycled milk jugs of it in my small laundry room. I made a "Paste/Gel" version of it. I use my usual recipe but reduce the water total to just under 1 gallon total. I make sure to mix it a LOT while it cools. Once it is cooled, it stays mixed...
