I used shredded newspaper once in a pinch & it worked. I sent it thru the paper shredder as I would for shredding a bill or personal paper before going into the trash. I only used it temporarily for a day till I got new litter. Suprisingly it worked just fine. No tracking of stones or pebbles...
We too have a smoker.....sadly it's been a Reeeealy long time we've had it & have Yet to use it. Ours is an electric smoker on the recommendation that it's better with electric that way outside on a windy day our heat source won't blow out ;)
