I had knee replacement in January. Things are going great! I just would like to be able to work in the garden again.
My goals for this summer are:
1. Walk to the chicken coop everyday.
2. Help pick veggies out of the garden.
3. Raise a decent herb garden.
Doesn't take much to make me happy. :D
I have Ricki Carroll's book also. It's my cheese making bible. We have a Jersy cow, but the book makes me wish we had a goat , instead. DH says NO WAY! ever again as the last time we had a herd of milk goats they got loose and destroyed the small orchard we'd been babying for 5 years! :(

Today was a happy occassion! The children at church performed a Christmas pageant. I have 2 GDs but they live a little too far away. I miss them. But watching the church family children grow up over the years fills a big empty spot in my heart.

So this is about "me"?
I'm old, or at least I feel that way. Born in 1950. So many dreams, so many plans.... still have dreams and plans.
We bought our "farm" in 1972. It was being sold as a "hunter's delight". Weeds, scrub brush, poison ivy, ground hogs and their holes everywhere. No...
I bought the 23 qt. Presto last spring. I love It! The newer canners are lighter weight, at least it feels like it. And I can double stack jars or use my half-gallon jars.
You can't beat the price either. Wish they were $74 when I bought mine.

My husband and I helped the neighbors to slaughter and put up hogs.
The shoulders went into the sausage. Spiced to your liking and forced into long muslin sack casings (sewed up by me!). Sides abdomen and jowls we took to a processor to have smoked for bacon. Backs and ribs into chops, roasts...
If it is developing a necrotic center (blackened area) at the initial bite site...Go to Dr. or clinic..QUICK!
If not I suggest Tree Tea Oil. Great for stopping itching, an antiseptic property and antifungal use also. The smell is only BAD for about 2 hours. :gig :barnie :gig
Okay, I had 3 gallons of farm fresh milk....got cheese out of it....cooked down the leftover whey and got riccotta. Now is there anything I can do with the yellow watery leftovers beside pour it down the sink?
