    Meat!

I was sorta joking about the horses. Sorta. A lot of other countries sell horse meat along side the beef, lamb, pork, chicken and such in the supermarkets. I've ate it and it was good. I will say if things keep going the way it looks to be going in this country... Horse might wind up on a...

    Meat!

We raise or have raised chickens, guineas, turkeys, ducks, geese, quail, pheasants, pigs, horses, cows, rabbits and probably some stuff I'm forgetting. We've ate all these except for the horses at one time or another and since I haven't been working the horses are starting to look good. :hide

Mississippifarmboy's Living Simple Journal, Ready for a Fresh Start.

I have felt much better the past couple of days. Haven't gotten much done, but feel better anyway. Em and I finally went to town this evening and picked up a couple of presents to put under the tree for the kids. Splurged and bought some ground beef and made homeade hamburgers and fries for...

    Panther

Cougars, panthers, mountain lions.... all the same criiter just different sub-species. I know, I raised them for years. The western cougar is the largest. My male was 7'2" long from nose to tail and weighed about 175 pounds. The one you saw Rhonda (and yes, I believe you 100%) was either a VERY...

need ideas for uses for plastic coffee cans!

We use ours for an in-between for flour, meal, sugar and such. Buy bulk, save in 5 gallon cans and just fill up the coffee cans as needed so it's handy in the pantry without having to open the big buckets every single time. I also use them to sort and store nuts, bolts, washers, nails and such...

    Why not GM?

You are probably right. But I won't buy them or eat them knowingly. I bought the kids a 5 buck pizza last night, the first time I've ate takeout food in months. We raise most everything we eat. Groceries the past few months has been a little tea, coffee, flour, meal and sugar. I'm sure there...

Denim Deb Hay, hay, hay. Thank the Lord!

You sure have been busy. I know what you mean about the mud too, it's so muddy here I have to wear boots to do anything. I had to laugh when I read "This afternoon I got the new bar and chain on my chainsaw." I never thought I'd read that sentence coming from a woman. :thumbsup

    What are you preparing for?

What am I preparing for? Anything and everything. I don't know that something will happen, but I don't know that nothing will happen either. I prefer to try and be prepared for whatever comes. I do know with being so sick this year and some of the other stuff that's happened here, if we didn't...

    Why not GM?

I have no idea if GMs are bad for you or not. Seriously. I'm not a scientist nor have I studied them. But I'll pass on them thank you. And not to argue, but there is a world of difference (in my eyes anyway) between natural hybrid crosses between the corn crops in my garden and in some guy in...

livin' on the funny farm- SUCCESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Boy.. You got me on that one! I was thinking the state of Mississippi was running out of water. I was wondering how after the flooding rains we had the past week. lol The weather is getting weird. Last year we had 8 months with no rain. It was so dry this past summer that our garden dried up...

    Rabbits unerground?

Just an idea... I've never tried anything like what you are doing. But using the system you are using with the landscaping timbers and burying the coolers.. Wouldn't it be simpler and more "rabbit chew proof" to just make the boxes out of cinder blocks instead of coolers? I'm thinking you could...

Wow! Over a month since I've posted! First my computer messed up, then the internet went down for a week or two, then was sick again, just couldn't get online for some time. I'm just sitting here today snuggled up with the Lily kid catching up on PMs and emails and trying to catch up on...
