I had the opportunity and money a few years back to buy an actual wood burning cook stove with ovens. I couldn't get to the town in enough time to buy it 😞. Tomorrow or Friday I have to go pick the 2 pumpkins because they won't last until October. They are already bright orange so some pumpkin bread is going to be awesome.

Funny, this made me feel good --- or that I may be paranoid --- :) or just not too attached to "modern life" in some ways.
I have solar inverters (2) with 18K watt ( say 14k really collectable ) sending the watts to a 3rd "master hybrid inverter" in my cool basement with 60,000 watts / 1120AH of batteries and the entire house is on the inverter. What do I do when the power goes out ... Nothing ... I get a text on my phone but the house is like a computer on a UPS. Nothing stops or even blinks. The solar has been recharging the batteries to 100% every day with an occasional super cloudy day not quite getting back to 100%. That takes about 1/2 or more or the questions off the list.

Food - we live out a bit but have always made our food from "scratch" I have and keep circulating about 100lb flour 100lb beans 100lb rice and the freezer or canned beef/pork/chicken I buy in bulk and divide and vacuum seal... So with the garden we can generally go a very long time if needed, dairy is the only short shelf and I have dried milk paper products/medicine/batteries etc. stored for emergencies ....

Entertainment - Lots of books real and tablet, movies, and music available on the server in the basement ( still running of course :) ) and we love a good game of chess.

Heat - propane and a wood gasification boiler+1500gal water storage ( about 1 million BTU's ) either will heat the house just fine with the wood being the cost of labor

Oh and we are , of course, on a well ....
