How about hawthorn. Get a scratch from a thorn and it swells because of the bacteria that live on them. Same for black locust thorns.

oh ghods yes! agreed there.

reminds me of one of the earlier dentists we had who smoked and had horrible breath. he also drilled for gold (we didn't probably have as many cavities that he found and filled).

Tansy Ragwort is the baddie here in the PNW. Its toxic to all life and spreads like wildfire. We are supposed to wear gloves and pull up the roots and bag it for the trash dump.
