Here are some homestead re-purposes for common steel drums. Fun. To my mind, some more useful than others. But they all do show that folks were thinking… and probably sketching.

When I was growing up my dad cut one in half put handles on the sides for a camping fire pit. We don't camp in campgrounds so when there was a fire ban on the mountains when it was dry we still could have a fire.
 
We mostly used them for fires as well, but some of these designs made me look at them a bit differently!
