Ok before I posted a several year list of long term goals. I finally made a 2025 list.
1. Set up a “bulk” feeding and watering system for the chickens to streamline my daily chores and to make it possible to leave them for 3-4 days at a time for weekend trips. This would also allow longer trips where we wouldn’t have to pay for quite as many visits by the chicken sitter. (Have already begun work on this one.)
2. Finish cleaning the basement. Spend at least one hour down there every weekend. (So far this year I’ve done 1 hour. I need to catch up last weekend’s hour plus do this weekend’s.)
3. Tame (and downsize) the landscaping. I didn’t weed at all last year

A few beds are full of enough perennials that it didn’t really matter for those, but the rest are a disaster. And DH says I have too many, so I really need to turn some of them into just mulch that we can spray and weed whack without worrying about killing my “precious” flowers.
4. Check off some of my chicken breeding goals. Then eliminate those breeds that I don’t plan to keep long term.
5. Everyone’s perennial goal: lose weight!

(I’m actually down 19 pounds from what I was two years ago. This years goal is to add another 11 to that. Baby steps)
6. Make a plan for getting a Dalmatian. I fell in love with this breed in 1989 when my sister got one. My husband did not like that dog. (She was a bad dog mama- eventually her wonderful dog breeder helped her rehome it to a
good dog mama.

) It’s a long story, but so far for one reason or another we have always chosen different breeds of dogs. I am determined that I will have a Dalmatian before I am too old to manage a high energy dog. With my dachshund Liesl dying this year, there will be a new puppy some time in the relatively near future. I’m way too busy right now, so I have to plan how and when to cut back on my commitments to make the time. 2025 may not be the year, but my goal is to put a plan in place.
So that’s it. 6 items on the list. Ought to be able to accomplish 6 things in 12 months.
