No more excuses, can't submit to the siren song of "you had a hard work week, take a break today, the stuff can wait, just sit and do nothing and rest" ..... my to do list is a mix of large projects and a bunch of small ones. Working on the large projects as the stamina (and tractor availability) permits ) and pecking away at the small ones. Scattered rain all day today.
Semi monthly recycling run completed today. Put up the hummingbird feeder in the completed portion of the in process new flower bed. Got a bag of trash collected in the garage. Starting a new central "pile" the wife needs to be accountable for.
FINALLY completed the trim painting in my office this afternoon. Last task is to hang the memorabilia stuff, getting it all in one spot so I can get it organized before starting that job.
Two more boxes gone through. Thinking about the remaining garden beds and what to plant.
Small steps continue. All three kids were here yesterday and they helped on a few things I couldn't do by myself. The wife's health issues continue, so it's hard to get two person jobs done around here sometimes.
The raised herb garden bed legs slipped off the rocks they were sitting on (bad wind actually blew it off) and sunk deep into the mud. It's now out of the mud and reseated on larger flat rocks.
Got the big memorabilia things hung in my office and the doors hung back on my closet. Some of the memorabilia stuff has not been displayed for over 10 years. (Divorce, apartment living, etc). Office stuff is down to little things I can do myself. Getting this done opened up a little floor space in the living room pile.
Sent three totes of stuff home with the son. Stuff his mom wanted to throw out during the divorce two totes of his kid toys and a tote of Christmas ornaments. I now also have some tote storage space available on the basement shelves.
Throw in several 5 minute jobs Saturday, the ones dependant on buying that one missing item, and I made some progress this weekend. Did also make the recycling run. The completion of the office room is in sight.
2024 list
#15 go to Waco auction--it shut down, never made it there
#20 I finally cleaned all the green alge off the end of the house and it's looking good
#21 I partially burned the 5 huge piles and set my field on fire. I think that was in April. With standing water puddles in the field, it still caught on fire. Me and a friend slapped out the flames.
2025 list
I finished #1, raised chicks, lost chicks, was given meat pen chicken culls and wound up slaughtering 88 chickens. I thought I'd never see the end of chickens!
#2. finished lambing, did not take any to the Texas Katahdin field day. Wound up selling some off the farm and taking to auction. I kept 9 ewe lambs for breeding stock and several rams for a date with freezer camp.
#3 and #4 Have worked more with Buford. He now is happy to take short rides in the truck, no more drooling and fear. Truck is in shop for second time, when I get it back, we'll do a few more lessons, then I'll set an appointment for him to be collected. Which brings up touching his ding aling. At the risk of sounding like a pervert, I freely admit that i tell Buford, "let me see your ding ding," and I fondle his private parts. At first he was horrified, who told him about STRANGER DANGER anyway? Making progress, have to get him onboard for this.
#5 Have contacted 2 builders for quotes of barn, they have not responded.
