Haven't been here is awhile. Had to log in. Been running at top speed as usual until I didn't. 3 weeks ago I ripped my back, wound up in ER writhing in agony, even crying from the pain. They prescribed hydrocodone which made me throw up. That was on a Monday. Went to PA, sent me to xray, didn't give me anything for pain, thanks a lot. By Saturday I was laying in bed crying. Preacher is a PA, he prescribed tramadol. Relief at last. My son is in between jobs, he has been awesome. Here every day to take care of all my animals plus has done some things here that I am so grateful for. I not only messed up muscle in my back, but pinched a nerve and gave myself an inguinal hernia. Waiting on call from surgeon so I can get it fixed. I am down, can't do a damned thing except carry a coffee can of feed to my horse and pans of food for the dogs. I cancelled raising meat chickens this year. At some point, my son will catch a job and be gone. He is torn between working and leaving me. I've assured him that I will be ok, I can rely on friends and neighbors for help.
I looked back on resolutions over the past few years. Not going to list the undone, don't care.
My resolution for now is to get well and get over the injuries I have done to myself. I have a trip to Greece in September with a friend that is like a daughter to me and her daughter. It has been planned for 2 years and I'm going come he// of high water.
I currently have something like 70+ sheep including 40 lambs. Weaning is coming up, separating the ram lambs. I have 16 older ewes on my sell list.
but it must be done. I'm keeping 17 of the ewe lambs. I'm going to sell 2 of my 3 rams.
Again, it must be done. I'm keeping one of the ram lambs, to see how he grows out. Plus I have 10 ewes that belong to a friend who changed jobs, has to sell current home, move a couple hundred miles, buy a new place. She is below Houston, has daughter in school there. Husband is in Fort Worth area with other 2 kids. She was going to sell her sheep and I couldn't let that happen. I don't know when son will leave for a job, he is a crane operator and stays gone for months at a time. Weather is warming up, jobs will kick off and he will go. I'll be ok.
The PA told me that the hernia surgery will only take me down for a couple of weeks. It will be done with robotics and laparoscopy. Good news to me, but I will try to be more careful and get help with heavy stuff. I have to face that I'll be 71 in May, am no longer 10 feet tall and bullet proof. I'm 9 feet tall and catch a .22 slug now and then.
