We have lots of different kinds here. Some leave in the winter, others stay all year, and some come here for the winter, from colder climates.

Won't be too much longer now B4 they're ready to fly.

That's just amazing! Their beaks grew so much over the past week! Do you know how long until they leave the nest?

I am not sure, my neighbor was just telling me when the hummer babies in her backyard left the nest... there was three days between the first one learning to fly and the second one. The mom kept coming back to the nest and feeding the remaining baby. Then they hung out near the nest for a few days. Now they come and go like all the others. I am betting by next week there will be an empty nest. I am hoping to catch a couple of photos of them learning to fly.

Thank you so much for sharing your amazing experience with us!

Doc and I got to watch a Blue Jay nest, built in a large cedar right off our back porch, several years ago. After hatching out, the babies were gone between 2 and 2 and a half weeks. It amazed us that they'd be ready to leave that soon.

How are the little ones doing? Left the nest yet?

I am sitting here watching one little male hummer claim the feeder all for himself  He sits on the top crook of the garden hook I hang them from and dare anyone else to come and eat- even through pouring rain!
