Work is on the back burner for now. Was involved in a minor freak accident with a car yesterday, which left me with an injured wrist and near useless hand, for now. Hoping to recover soon. Typing is hard, so I'm not posting much at the moment, but thinking of you all :hugs Will talk more when I can type properly.

Thanks, all :hugs

Beekissed, my car was not involved, I was on foot and a passing motorist came way too close to the footpath and at speed. Her car's wing mirror got my wrist as she passed and gave it a hard enough hit for the mirror to fold back onto the car and me to end up in A&E with a "please don't tell me it's fractured" wrist. I couldn't feel or move my hand or fingers for more than 7 hours after the accident. X-rays ruled out any notable fractures, thank goodness, but we suspect a hairline fracture, or some kind of damage. The hospital put me in a splint and said they'll work on a full report. I'm still in pain and can't use my right hand much at all.

The motorist stopped to talk to me afterwards and we got her car's plates, if needed, but I don't think we'll be taking this further, unless any long term issues arouse from this injury. But I hope it won't. Thankfully I'm covered fully for any medical needs, so I don't have to worry about that, or go chase after her insurance.

Ouch!! How scary is that. You are lucky she wasn't a few inches farther onto the path, it could have been way worse. But I'm sure that's little consolation when you're in pain! Hope they can sort out what the damage is and get you fixed up fast!

It was very scary and I found I'm nervous now, crossing roads and walking, though I went out for a long walk with DS this morning. I just stepped as far as I could off the roads when I heard cars approaching and we enjoyed the walk.

Irish drivers almost never drive close to pedestrians, I've seen so many stop behind us and wait for incoming traffic to pass, before overtaking us, so they can give us a wide berth. Many of them going as far as pulling over to the opposite lane. That makes this accident really strange. The nurses in A&E were very surprised when I told them what happened. Trust me to pull something like this off LOL

Just a scary situation all around. I know you don't want to pursue the other woman on a legal basis....but if MOST drivers there are so respectful of pedestrians....what was her problem? :somad

Let's hope she doesn't ever put herself, or anyone else, in that situation again.

Just so glad it wasn't worse, @sumi ! :hugs

Is there a way you can get to see a hand specialist? I'm worried about nerve damage...especially since you couldn't move it for so long and that it' still giving you such a problem after xays didn't show an obvious fracture.... Sorry - just my overprotective mother hen side coming out.

Yes you are a nicer person than me, I would be angry and probably be calling a lawyer lol. And FEM is right, nerve damage is a scary thing. Take care of yourself!

FEM, I don't know? The drivers here are so careful, my first thought after the accident was that I must've put myself in harm's way!

My wrist and hand is very uncomfortable today, aching. The A&E nurse said I got the knock right on the bone, which would account for the discomfort, but I want to see the full report. I want to know what damage got done… All they said was go home and wait for report and if it doesn't get better in a few days, come back.

BF's arm got broken like this, in a similar accident. In his case he was working at a road traffic stop and held up a sign to stop oncoming vehicles. One driver ignored the command and sped past him, hitting his arm with his vehicle's wing mirror as he went.
