Wow! This was interesting thread to find! I'd forgotten about this! Definitely worth updating!

The medication referenced was for something I dont have - I was misdiagnosed.

My "hay fever" was also misdiagnosed. I dont have true allergies, I have Mast Cell Activation Syndrome.

In answer to my original question about managing allergenic symptoms without antihistamines, I have learned a couple solutions!

Quercetin is a plant flavanoid supplement that inhibits mast cell degranulation. Quercetin is found in yellow onion, bloody dock, capers, chamomile, and in lesser amounts in deeply colored fruits and vegetables.

Nasalcrom is an OTC cromolyn sodium nasal spray. It is a mast cell inhibitor. Its my first choice for seasonal allergy symptoms.

so far rinsing my sinuses and eyes out and then washing face and wiping down hair if i've not kept it covered (i usually do) takes care of anything i get into in terms of pollen and dust. shuts it right down within a few moments. thank goodness. :)
