ah, ok. So it isn't The Weather that's the problem. Gotcha. I know almost nothing about any camelids.

It’s mostly parasites. Mostly meningeal worm, I believe. I know someone who has several alpacas and they’re outside all winter with his sheep🤷🏻‍♀️ But I don’t know him well enough to quiz him on all things alpaca. Though he has tried to give them to me on several occasions😂 that seems to be a common thread with people with alpacas.

Ad says he's easy to handle. But, I'm only experienced in shearing my dog's fur. Not being hardy would be a problem. I open the barn door every day, even in the winter, unless unusually cold.

He has the same hair cut as my dog.
Alpaca would shear like poodle hair, IMO.

Probably. The hair style is about the same, only the alpaca is larger.

Anyway, I believe more planning is in order to add alpacas, and probably isn't really going to happen. They're adorable, but just leave it at that, and snuggle my spoiled spoo.
