Oh yeah, I'm simply amazed (sarcasm). I've been saying for years that somewhere down the road they're going to discover that the cause of things like autism, the rising rate of things like ADHD, various mental illnesses and many cancers will be attributable to the crap we've sprayed on and fed to our food sources.

My thoughts are since this is dealing with a monsanto product, this will quietly go away , and nothing will be done about it. Farmers will continue to spread the stuff, and cancer rates, infertility etc will run rampant, people will wonder why and blame will be placed elsewhere.

Of course it will disappear. Monsanto create something that is not safe? What? No Way!

You know that they would never, ever, take advantage of people for a dollar or two or million. Its all about our safety. Right.

Can you see the sarcasm dripping off of the above.

I don't know, I've been seeing rumblings amongst the city folks that there are problems with the food system that can be laid at the Monsanto door. They may have to start hiring a few more lawyers and spend even more time in court for awhile. Maybe someday the cost of keeping themselves in business will make them price themselves out of competition. Okay, that was just stupid wasn't it? Sometimes I make myself laugh.

While I do believe Monsanto is evil, the more likely causes of autism, adhd, and cancer are not chemicals.

Autism: Vitamin D deficiency in the mother during critical fetal development.
http://www.vitamindcouncil.org/health/autism/

ADHD and other mental disorders: Fatty acid imbalance
http://www.fi.edu/learn/brain/fats.html

Cancer: A diet high in sugars, starches and other carbohydrates

(a lack of vitamin D plays a big role too)

So it isn't necessarily what we spray on the food, but the food itself that is the problem. Of course, that food is grown by Monsanto...

I think you're onto something. One of many reasons my husband won't purchase Monsanto seed is that they are too expensive. I wouldn't be surprised if they followed in the footsteps of Big Tobacco. Get the crap sued out of them, jack up their prices to cover costs, lose customers in America and pimp their products elsewhere.

Sorry for crude language, but Monsanto gets under my skin bigtime.

OTOH, I think they are a bit like Wal-Mart. Other companies do a lot of the same things, but Monsanto is so BIG that they're the first ones people think of.

I am in no way arguing with you. I HATE chemicals and go to great lengths to keep them out of my family's lives.

Here's the thing. We basically started using them after WWII. So, if someone did a survey of health, illness and death before that time in comparison to now, we should see a skyrocket in all problems after WWII. I wonder what the studies would show? I haven't done the research, just saying if ALL that could be attributed to farm chemicals (which I hate, okay?), one would think it would be fairly obvious in the research.

And here's the other thing, a LOT changed after WWII. I imagine diet, exercise, TV viewing, social structure and other things changed then, too.

Personally, I wish they would throw a lot more research into things to study them really, really long term. Of course, that doesn't get the product onto the market soon enough to start earning its developer money...

Just trying to think scientifically here. What do you all think?
