I am wondering if any one has a great way to use up a pile of onions....
this is now my second bag of onions...
first ones went in the freezer and dehydrator...
but $7 for 50 pounds of onions...I couldn't pass up the deal...
Now what...?????

You can go on line and look at sites either with onion recipes, or maybe they have some sites on preserving onions...

Pickled onion slices are very nice. I use red onions, Blanch them for just a couple of seconds, then put them in a solution of white vinegar, water, sugar and salt. They make a very pretty pink onion slices/rings that taste great on sandwiches, tacos, etc...

Here was an interesting recipe I found...

Ha..I can eat sauteed onions with every meal. Those would last no time here at my house ;) I usually eat about an onion a day on average by myself.

If I had THAT many...sauteed onions, bloomin onions, onion rings, a big batch of spaghetti sauce would use several, dice and freeze in one cup containers for sauces, soups, and chilli. I'd dry all I could for sauces and such too. Incorporate them into everything you cook, and you probably won't have enough of them

I've found the dehydrator to be the best bet for storing huge amounts of onions. They last longer, they don't stink up the freezer and they store easily as dried. All other options considered, I don't think anyone can have too many dried onions.

Yup, cook with 'em every day and dehydrate what you don't think you can use before they go off. That said, I can keep onions for months here--but I live in an arid climate.
