I'd file the police report. Even if they don't actively investigate, it could be important documentation for the future, and they might run across the tires while they're dealing with something else.

Me personally, I'm not a big fan of advertising security measures that you don't have. I just really don't think it's that big of a deterent .

Actually from what I've heard, advertising what security system you have isn't a deterrent to thieves at all. Instead, it HELPS them break in. That way, they know what system you have, and what they have to do to disarm it.
