Avalon1984-Chicken, horses, pigs, oh my!

Now that I have my horse I am quite content with no feathers! He gets fun fuzzies down the backs of his legs that are more than 4" long in winter, which is fun, but I am glad its not much more!

Lovely mead and adorable kitty!

So today is a very special day on our farm. Our very first purebred black copper maran chick just hatched. It has been 7 unsuccessful hatches and now I finally had one hatch :ya :weee Soo excited :)

Ah, we have a total of 3 Black Copper Maran chicks. Sooo excited.

Lost a hen to the 90 degree/high humidity weather the other day. I am staring to really prefer the winter over the summer here.

I also cut my hair off today. Been meaning to do it for years, there always seemed to be something else going on. I donated it to "Locks of Love". Hope they find use for it. Looked kind of like roadkill after all the washing and we put it under a heater to dry it. I like my new hair, feels a lot lighter. Of course, in this heat I feel like shaving my head... :lau

I know that feeling! I need a haircut, but have neither the time nor the money. I hate how long it is.

That is just how I felt. And I would get these aweful knots right at my neck attached to my skull, would take half an hour each morning getting them out. All gone now. of course I wonder if the children from "Locks of love" will complain about this extra knotty hair. Must have something to do with all the horse poop it is exposed to.

I donated my hair to Locks of Love years ago - my head felt ten pounds lighter and my heart felt good too ;)

Deb, don't know if they still do it but, when I got my hair cut, it was free because I was donating.

I suppose I coddle my little girls too much but, when temps go over 85, they get a fan in their coop :P Wish I could find a set up like I have for winter here - thermostatically controlled. Wonder if I could rig up something with a solar attic fan? Hmmmm... Yes, they're spoiled, I admit. Today it hit 95 here so, as an added precaution, I put some ice cubes in their waterer's.
