Baymule's 2016 Garden

We have plenty of stinkbugs too. Wish something would eat them.

My garden has been seriously inundated/overrun/destroyed by stink bugs for several years. For clarification I'm talking about the nasty brown one mostly, with a few green ones thrown in the mix. Seriously, they overtook practically everything in the garden. This year - one. I saw ONE and it was sickly and dying. I didn't even have to squarsh him, lol. But now - nothing. Only thing I can think of is all the rain... we've been wet for so long that maybe their eggs literally drowned? Only other thing I can think of is that I planted later this year (what little planting I've done) and maybe they did a fly by earlier in the year and decided that pickin's were too slim.

What do ya'll do to combat them? Only thing that ever worked for me is a physical barrier or hand-picking - ugh.

I feel bad that ya'll are battling them.... but better that they're not here! :hide

I use the wooden block method. It is deadly and it works! Place stink bug on wooden block and SMASH it with another wooden block!

I picked 4 yellow squash today! :weee First pickin's outa the garden! It looks like we'll get slammed with yellow squash, that's ok. At least I'll get something from the garden!

That's wonderful! I love and miss squashes… I need to get some seeds from SA or somewhere.

Gotta love those yellow squash for sure! I got one the other day - probably be the only one I get because I had to use that part of the garden space to wean some goats. It's one of the few places that isn't underwater...yet.

I'm really wishing I had some of that sandy soil right now!

I picked 3 more today and introduced our 16 month old grand daughter to fried squash. She almost ate a whole squash by herself. She went home with a couple of squash. I am so excited to be getting something from the garden!

I think I need to go visit you @baymule

(And @CJ1 to sample some of that wine she keeps mentioning ;))

You would be welcome anytime Sumi.
