I've got Gene Logsdon's book ~All Flesh is Grass today!!! :weee

My birthday present to myself, bought cheaply on Amazon.com and will probably pay for itself ten times over and again.

Its raining out.....and the book beckons.....

See you guys later! :D
Finished the book and was not impressed, to say the least. He does have some good detail about the history of agriculture as it pertains to grass farming, but its clear he is a writer, not a farmer.

I would have to say, I still prefer Salatin's methods on farming and pasture development. More natural and more sensible, by far. :thumbsup

Happy Easter to you too Bee. It is easy to forget how much we are blessed unless we slow down and just look and listen to what's around us.

Thanks for the info on that book I was thinking of getting it, but I won't now.

I agree Bee, on the book. I heard so many people raveing about it, I went and bought it. Hmmm. Not what I expected. Oh well...another book for the library....yeah, like I have a library. ;) Another book for the box! :/

Happy Easter to you all! Well, just got finished coloring eggs the old-fashioned way with the boys....you know, vinegar and food coloring. We have a few very beautiful eggs.....and a whole bunch of .....er...well....they're just ugly!!! And the boys are soooooo proud of the ugliness! BOYS! :smack

:lau

Love, love, love those ornery boys! :love

Well I still liked "All Flesh is Grass" a bunch.

I just got a copy of Salad Bar Beef - I'll give that a try.

all those grown men will drive a deer full of guts straight over to her, to dress and process....I know, I know.... sometimes I can't believe it either! :P
Dh just picked up a video on how to "dress", is that what you call it? a deer out in the woods, take the guts out and all so I guess he's planning on doing the rightful job on site....

Thats funny, your a hospice nurse too! Then you know what I am saying for sure. I work at an inpatient hospice facility. Its a one of a kind and I feel really blessed for having had the opportunity to work there over the last 5 years..it has been special and the environment and the caring people there make the experience very special for the patients and their families...take a look, click on the little cameras to see the photos.

The facility backs onto a horse pasture and the patients get to watch about 15 horses go by every day, even some fox out there. The grounds are beautiful. It feels like you are in a lodge on the inside.
All patient rooms have french doors that open to the outside and in the summer we open them and turn their beds to face outside over the pasture. It has been quite a spiritual journey for me, but now as we prepare to move to the mountains, I am preparing mentally to leave this place and work behind. There might be some hospice work up there, don't know yet.

It sounds beautiful!!! We want a hospice facility so badly here but there is no money for it. I know that I wouldn't mind dying in somewhere so pretty!

I don't doubt you will find a hospice in the area where you are moving....maybe even open a facility there!

Update on Easter Egg hunt for boys......egg-sucking hound found several eggs that I thought he couldn't reach and ate them. `:he

Next egg hunt will involve a cyanide loaded egg.....just for Jake! :smack
