Gina, I'm right there with you. I'm nursing a wicked sunburn because I was wearing a skimpy shirt and barefoot rototilling more of my yard (my never ending project). There is nothing like the feeling of freshly turned soil beneath your bare feet.

She's doing fine...no signs of calving, though. Udder and teats are full to bursting but she is having too much fun decimating the grass in my orchard to care about squeezing out a calf right now! She's kind of lonely now, so we spend time with her each evening, brushing her and making over her. Then we just sit and watch the sun go down and she gets real close to us and chews her cud. Nice cow...very sweet!

Oh Bee. She sounds so sweet. I would love to have a cow...one day. But, honestly...we just dont drink milk. I can buy half a gallon, and throw about half of that to the cats. I know, we SHOULD drink it..but cows milk is just a tad too slimy for me. I DO like goats milk..and get what I can from a friend. Our land here is so wet, I am afraid a cow would just sink..and really tear up the pastures. DH would have a fit! He likes a "gentlemans farm" all pretty as a picture.

Funny thing, Justusnak.....we don't drink milk either! 
The youngest was allergic and so we all just stopped consuming dairy....and have benefitted immensely from it. Now, after doing without it for so long, my digestive system cannot tolerate dairy products and I'm lactose intolerant. This from a gal who used to drink about a gallon a day!
I will be tasting Blossoms milk...for quality assurance purposes, of course. And I know it won't affect me like the store bought products, so I will be sampling the buttermilk, butter and cheese as well.
That's why its so odd for me to have obtained a milk cow because none of us do dairy anymore....but God leads and I try to follow. I keep thinking her purchase will make sense to me somewhere along the way! I just wanted a few sheepies, ya know.
She is really open tonight, if you know what I mean!
Flapping open, to say the least. Her udder is finally filling more into the front and is full and long. Anytime.....
